Weather

My favourite expression comes into play:

The unusual has become the usual.

My Fort Lauderdale and Miami visit for 9 days was yet more proof of that.

It went from cool, to ridiculously hot to absolutely freezing.

Canceling anything

Anyone ever try to cancel a cellphone plan especially after the contract has ended?!

Bahaha...horrible experience. They just do not want to hear it.

The Japanese young woman

Oh boy.

Poor poor thing.

She is killing me/us.

The economy

Wow!

I had not wanted to look at any news for the time I was visiting my sick friend.

And today I look at headlines on BBC and CBC and listening to NPR and oh boy...

I just want to sail away.

All I need is a boat! :bonk:

Hee, hee.

The price of fuel was better for my travels around South Florida.

It's nice to be back, even if the temperature is not ideal.

I will go figure skating in Millennium Park and invite the Chicagoan VJers to join me.

That will be fun.

Then I will count the days before I go back to Florida!!

VJ

What else did I miss with all of you?

I hope all is well in your worlds...well as can be created.

Bonjour Canada peoples. I have been keeping busy and trying to stay warm. post-21394-1227195088.gif With impeccable timing, I have managed to plant two dozen poinsettias in my garden the day before the deep freeze. At the moment, the poor little things are still clinging to life. Trailmix has requested pictures so I will try to do that before they get frostbite. <_<

My sister returned to England last week. On Tuesday we are off to NC for Thanksgiving. Then my husband leaves for Colorado on business. While he's gone my parents are arriving for a two week visit! (He'll be back before they leave.) Then we're back in NC for Christmas. Now I've received an email from my friend saying he and his wife are coming to visit... and so is my Cousin! And I just saw that Westjet has $93 seat sales to Toronto so I'm debating with myself on whether to take advantage of it or not.

I really should get my butt in gear and do stuff but I think the cold has me hibernating a little.

Well guys I am still in SK, and yesterday we got our first blast of winter.(Actually the first snow fall was in October at Thanksgiving) Its -19C outside right now @ 10 am, snow and of course the streets are like a skating rink! I'm freezing! but I am sure glad I invested in winter tires! Time to break out the longjohns, toques and winter boots. When I lived in the US I would always get funny looks and people would say what the heck is a toque? I've heard words such as knit-cap or beanie. I am never going to live it down! LOL!

My husband's been wearing his toque into work this week! He said he ran into another guy with one who said his wife brought it back from Canada so he knew exactly what it was! But he never asked him any questions on it. <_< I have sent my husband back to work with strict instructions on finding out what this guy's connection to Canada is and how come they know that word?!!!

They will be assimilated. Resistance is futile. :hehe:

Good morning all!

It is a tad warmer here in Central Florida this morning 14C - which is nice!

And that other thread really ticked me off, so much so that I was about to post last night but decided I was a bit too angry to actually post.

Thanks for the coffee Carla !

Good morning ladies and gents! TGIF and I'm taking a half day today!! Woo Hoo! My brother will be playing his first game with the Elmira Jackals tonight in Trenton, NJ and I can't wait to see him! It has been about 3 months :) (not our longest time apart, by any means)

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
