I can't bring myself to say that it may have been better that he didn't suffer overly long. There is no "better" when cancer is involved.

On the other hand, my mother suffered so much for so long. It was heartbreaking. A few days before she passed away, she begged her nurse and I to just let her die. She didn't want to take her painkillers anymore because she thought that they were prolonging her life. Those were some of the worst moments of my life.

Spirit, he had been having trouble breathing (which had been happening off and on) and he was in a lot of pain that morning. His wife and kids told him it was okay to go (he was at home)..... and so he did.

Holy moly Krikit.

I am deeply fascinating by such stories.

Honestly, if my FIL's wonderful loving wife had been able to let go - they were so much in love still after 25 years together - he might have.

Who knows...

So heart-wrenching.

All of it.

hmm, my hubby still isn't working.. he sent in the forms for the background check 2 weeks ago... we still haven't heard anything..

they did tell him that he for sure has the job.. this just seems like an unreasonable amount of time to wait for a background check

Maybe they sent a security check through USCIS . . . ? I hope he hears something soon.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

thank god! last of my 3 exams this week!! lol And start a medical-surgical (student RN) rotation on Tuesday, sweet!!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

All of it.

I had a nice chat with Maureen last night.... Rick's wife. We both agreed that if she and the kids wouldn't have been able to let go, he would have tried to stay. We had a good laugh and a good cry, remembering the old times and how he was. One thing I will say, though, is that I feel guilty as sin that I can't make it to the funeral. It weighs heavy on my heart.... even though she understands.

Okay. Enough about that.

I hear ya, E.

We have to go shop for a sofa this weekend.

I have to shop for a wedding outfit. I hate shopping for clothes.

Trailmix, this is one of my favourite stores..... it's in the Mall at Millenia. I got my bedroom furniture from there. Z Gallerie?

I love this couch!

Okay, I can't figure out why there is a question mark after the Z Gallerie.... I didn't put it there.

Maybe the VJ peoples are questioning your choice of furniture??

I love that sofa - love the color, love the style, too many pillows for me, I prefer an attached back but it's gorgeous...off to look at this site now.

Whose wedding are you going to?

Yeah, the pillows could get to be a tad annoying, I would think. I just love the fabric and the colour. :luv:

We're going to my husband's niece's wedding. He's walking her down the aisle.
