I wash my floor on my hands and knees!! Not much tile and wood in our condo, but have some!! Did the same back in my house in Victoria!! Cleaning with a rag/towel is far superior than a mop!! Mop is full of germs and ur respreading them around!! I picked up this nice habit from the Navy!! no mops on the ship!! Just small banister brushes and deck cloth!! I was lucky I progressed up the ranks fairly fast, lol

Yep. Former military wife here. No mops for me either. Plus I'm a little OCD when it comes to cleanliness.

What is GPSing?? I know GPS is global positioning system, is that what Carla means? Do you drive around and see where you are? Will this be an Olympic Sport?

I imagine it's somewhat like trainspotting. Or warring. Or metal detecting. Let us know if you find a great position Carla!

My house in Victoria was all wood or tile and once could tell the difference if I did by hand or used a mop like object. And yep, I'm a clean freak!! Soon about to get the dyson out and vacuum!! love my Dyson!! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ohmygosh, I would LOVE a Dyson!!! You're the first person I know who has one. I have a really excellent vacuum right now so I can't justify buying one. But it's good to know a fellow cleanfreak loves them. Can't give me a better sales pitch than that. :)

I vacuum every 2nd day!! we have 2 Siberian and 1 dog!! Prior to my dyson, I had a upright kenmore, which I thought was good!! NOT!! I vacuumed the day before with it, prior to the Dyson Animal purchase!! USed the Dyson and WOW, it picked up sooooooo much animals hair and other debris!! I was totally shocked on how much stuff it picked up. i really wasnt expecting much, since I had just vacuumed!! I also own a Bissel carpet steamer that I love!! When we bought our condo, we should have got the carpets replaced, but we knew we would be having animals, thus no reaosn to splurge and get new carpets put in,especially since we knew we werent going to be here that long. Rather just keep them clean and put in new (carpet allowance) when we sell. But I highly recommend the Dyson. My mom has 1 has well and loves it. They have 3 cats and 2 dogs, lol

Excellent! Let me know when they come out with a floor cleaner! *ponders cost of Bissel carpet steamer vs Stanley Steamer*

Trailmix! I hate that saying too!! Reminds me of that psychotic girl on that reality show. I think it was Paradise Island. But I'd love to know the results of the floor cleaning method. I REALLY don't want to do that anymore. But I am compelled to. My husband loves me.

When we moved into our condo, they charged me around $150 to do the carpets!! I believe my bissel ran me just under $300 and I have used it 3 times, did my brother in laws place, so it has more than paid for itself! plus have used it to clean both our vehicles carpets

What about if you take pictures of your cat with the roomba, what does that mean!? I even pulled a chair up for her :hehe:

I would like a Roomba too, except I expect it would have at least 3 of the cats following it around and batting at it as it moved across the floor! I hate our vacuum - it is a Hoover Wind Tunnel that seems like it weighs 300 pounds. It does a good job where it can reach, but I need two hands to move it anywhere, it can't get under most of the furniture and it can't make it into corners so I am always having to take all of the extension pieces out and put them to gether to get along the edges of the furniture and under everything. It is a real pain, especially as the hose part is too short and I end up having to brace my shoulder against the vacuum while using the extension parts to reach under stuff. My husband bought it before I moved here when he just had an empty house with no furniture. I am sure it is great under those conditions! So, the vacuuming gets done once a week although it could definitely use it more often. I don't need to go to a gym for a workout - I just need to vacuum! I wash floors on my hands and knees too.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "treasure," usually toys or trinkets of little value. Today, well over 480,000 geocaches are registered on various websites devoted to the sport. Geocaches are currently placed in over 100 countries around the world and on all seven continents, including Antarctica. It's great exercise, and a really fun thing to do as a couple. Very inexpensive, and allows us to go places and see things we've never been before or saw. Little out of the way places. We've geocached in Canada, and in our travels here in the US. I got a second hand unit for dirt cheap from a friend who was upgrading. There is an official site for us "geeks". www.geocaching.com Check it out.

I'd rather be doing that than housework!

If you can believe it, it was -13 C on New Years Day here. Yesterday and today, it's +20 C. Weird eh? No snow of course. Very windy. Supposed to be like this for another few days.

Have fun, and play nice!
