I think Cuba is one of the countries where, for reasons unknown to me, the petitions gets approved way faster. Again, I think thats the case and if true I have no idea why.. or it may be a military expedite.. but I doubt.. lets see what the OP says, if anything...

On the other note, after reading all the posts about the Notice Date and the Received date usage, I just looked at my I-797C for my wife's I-130 and I-129F(K3) and woah.. it changes quite a bit for me too...well maybe.. since my RD and ND deltas are about little over two weeks(you can see in my sig below).. I always had this hunch about which dates to use in VJ timeline but to be little more safe and I guess conservative... I decided to use my Notice Dates instead of Received date...tho I had always thought many times that it doesn't make sense.. Oh wow.. when we have to wait for months.. whats a week or two here and there.. hehehe..

Off to change dates in the VJ timeline.. Thanks to e'one and good luck to all of us waiting.. Godspeed...

Also many thanks to bszoom42... for clearing this whole thing about ND and RD...

What are you talking about? Cuban Fiancees are NOT ASYLUM SEEKERS! They go thru just like any other K-1 applicant. Now to the reasons why Cuban applications are approved quickly, I have can't say for sure but I can certainly guarantee you that the counsular portion of K-1 visa and exit requirements for Cubans are no where near as other nations and maybe this is the reason USCIS allows for quick approvals. Anyhow, good luck to you all...........

Cuban Adjustment Act allows Cubans who make it to US shores, land or territory illegaly to apply for political asylum. Otherwise know as dry foot policy. Cubans are the only privilaged bunch who have this opportunity and the process is rather fast and they are usually processed within a few days. Cuban caught in the sea are returned to cuba. This however, has no relations to any other type of immigration visas to the US either by marriage (k-3), fiance (K-1) or any other family based visa. So to reafirm my point, Cubas Finacee are not asylum seeker..............

I have heard from other Cuban filers in the past that their K-1s are processed much quicker then a normal persons is.

Perhaps the Adjudicators are partial to Cuba... it could be the cigars.

There have been 6 K1 petitions submitted January 2007 through July 2007 with Cuban beneficiaries.

5 have received NOA2's.

Average time between NOA1 & NOA2...... 12 days.

Looks to me like every Cuban petition gets put at the front of the line.

Presumably this will hasten the overthrow of Castro so we can all go to Havana again to gamble and smoke cigars.

if the cited reason - ie that the rest of the process is so long for Cuban petitioners - is truly correct, are there any other countries that are treated in a similar manner?

i dont see how that is particularly fair for petitioners of other countries that are on a good list with the usa. but life isnt fair. it seems strange they put them on the fast track. i thought it was against the law to even go there from the USA. why fast track it then? didnt Michale Moore get in trouble for going there? and i believe expedia just settled a large fine for booking travel there. How is it that doesnt factor in?

congrats to the july filer who got approved. not anything they did to beat the long line nor anything they had control of. i just cant believe even with a RFE they already have an NOA2.

maybe i should see if i can move Gretchen to Cuba for a few weeks, or claim the philippines are a part of cuba?

Although I'm happy for them, that even with an RFE they got an NOA2 so quickly, it's a bit disappointing for those of us who sent in our paperwork earlier and haven't gotten much for touches let alone an NOA2..Let's hope the rest of us get ours quickly as well

The filing process is not a true first in, first out queue, so don't let little things like this get you down. The big thing to keep your eye on is that you and your fiancee stand by each other throughout the process.

Well, while that may be true...I'm sure there are more who don't even know about this site so we don't know how many are really being processed. That applies to all VJ stats. I assume everyone is aware that there are many more people applying for visas than are participating on this site.
