The NVC told me that they generated the I-864 last week. (couldn't give me a specific date though) Should I expect it sometime maybe today or Saturday? Or next week?

NVC takes SO long! Glad I'm not the ONLY one who is going through this though! *sigh* :wacko:

5/31/07 ~ NOA2 Approval!

NVC: (Did not use James' shortcuts except for hubby sending DS-230 to me ahead of time!)

It should get to you any day now. Mine was generated on the 14th and I got it on the 30th. I'd say two to two and a half weeks of waiting. The good thing is you can pretty much assemble everything well before then. I just waited for the I-864 coversheet since the DS-230 generation message is still pending.

02/22/2007 - I-130 received by VSC.

06/12/2007 - NOA2 approval email received!!!

06/15/2007 - NOA2 letter received in the mail.

01/15/2010 - Received Green Card in the mail!

04/22/2011 - Express Mailed Application for Naturalization

04/27/2011 - Check cashed by USCIS

04/28/2011 - Received NOA I-797C dated 04/26/2011

05/27/2011 - Biometrics taken. Process took approx 35 min with wait

07/29/2011 - Received Interview Appt letter scheduled for 09/01/2011 dated 07/26/2011

09/01/2011 - Interview and Oath. Now a USC! The VJ is over!

It seems that with the NVC everything takes 2-3 weeks. I can't stand it. For some reason I was ok waiting almost 3 months for an NOA2 from the USCIS, but 2 weeks with the NVC is just pure agony!!! :lol:

As long as you get it right aroung the same time, or before the DS-230, you should be ok. Once the NVC reviews both, the I-864 AND DS-230, they complete the case. So you're fine Jasmin. ^_^

LOL I know! 3 months was nothing compared to 2-3 weeks! I guess it's just the common sense of how long it takes us to send out something in the mail. We send it and it arrives in like 2-3 days right? But not with NVC. Oh no, they like to do things slow and complicated, I guess. They have SUCH a slow system! :wacko:

If I remember right, you can shortcut the I-864 packet too if needed. Thus it's arrival doesn't matter that much or..? Do you need to have a date in order to send it back?

Hopefully. I am just very very worried because our mail gets lost so often... Our IV Fee Bill only took like 11 days, too.

If you want you can use James' shortcuts. I used them for the I-864 and didn't have any probles with it, and actually I never received the I-864 anyway. I would've used the shortcuts for the DS-230 as well but NVC was just not helpful with the generating date.

Don't be afraid to use the shortcuts for your stuff if you have the generated date because they do work.

Now, I have a couple of questions:

When I create the barcode, do I put "FRA" for Frankfurt in there as well or just the numbers starting with 2007?

Also, why do I have to resize the code after pasting it onto the coversheet? It looks the same size as the one that's on there as an example. When I resize it (after converting inches to cm) it's much smaller.

You have to include the letters in the barcode, and if your barcode's the same size as the example, go with it :)

Different editing programs make for different sized barcodes. I made mine in MS Paint and with the first barcode I was resizing from dusk till dawn. The converting from inches to cm didn't help either.

jasmin - i tried to do my own thing but honestly, following james' shortcuts precisely is the best way---

make the sizes what he says - eventually i downloaded 'infanview' to handle the barcode images - just like he says...

ms paint works too but infanview was a bit easier
