K3 help please?!

hey do you have any advice? im irish, my husband is american, we got married in ireland in may and applied for K3 visa. he is in the sates and im in Ireland and we are still waiting? is this the usual amount of time it takes to get approved? the i-130 got approved last week, but the K3 still has not. tis very frustrating as we were told time and time again the K3 is the quicker way and only takes 90 days?? im still in Ireland 8 months later!?

It would be easier to help you if you filled in your timeline. Everyone's experience is different. Did you get and RFEs and when did you receive NOA1 for your I-129F?

If your NOA1 (stating the receipt of your I-129f application) is 30 days or more before the processing dates, you can call up the helpline to know what is happening with your case.

You are not the only one with I-130 approved before the I-129f is approved for K-3. That happened to many others.

There is never any hard and fast rules as to processing times for either petitions. At any given time one can be faster or slower over the other. The K-3 came about in order to reunite married couples sooner to await approval of the I-130. For a very long time K-3 did not acheive this and CR-1's where being issued at a much faster rate. Then it appeared to change but hasnt been across the board. Much depends on service center, RFE's, security checks, whatever. Have you asked anything of your I-129F as to where it is in the process?

Advice however is a little limited as we would need further information such as service center, dates, emabassy etc. Which you can give by completing a timeline, available to add/edit by clicking on the 'Immigration Timelines' tab at the top of the page. Well this is not right. K3 has been a lot faster and 8 months are way too long.

Have you not checked with the CIS to ask them before? I mean 90 days and 8 months are quite a difference.

Maybe they lost it or something like that. You need to contact someone.

Really more info is needed about the K-3. Priority date, any correspondences with the CIS, etc. But if your I-130 is now approved it is probably another 5 month wait for that visa. Although I know the wait is hard I wouldn't spend too much time stressing. It will happen in time.

Here's an eye opener:

In my case, IR was somewhat fast (at VSC & NVC) without shortcuts & with a few minor hitches. But until the case complete only. I heard it takes NVC 2-3 months to schedule an interview, and at Manila Embassy, the waiting time to get an interview date for CR/IR can take as long as 5-6 months!

K visa applicants in Philippines get to have their interview date 7 months after filing the I-129F.

The time really depends on the "prevailing rate" at your Service Center & the NVC, and your embassy too.
