Police Clearance Check-CPIC - Need Info

It seems the NVC has changed the rules, originally I understood that I wouldn't need this document until my interview in Montreal, however now I find I need to submit it with my DS230.

Need to know where I can get a CPIC done from outside Canada. I am currently in the States visiting with my spouse and need to get a Canada Wide Clearance/CPIC done by internet or postal mail without having to go back into Canada before my scheduled return date in the fall.

Grateful for any advice ... Thanks.

I would call the canadian consulate found this on RCMP site

How can I obtain a Canadian police certificate (record check by name and date of birth only, not fingerprint based)?

In the Montréal area, please contact your local police service.

Outside the Montréal area, you may go to the nearest RCMP office. Please phone before going to a detachment because an appointment may be required. You may also contact your local police service.

Outside Canada, please contact the Canadian embassy or consulate in your area (note: some embassies and consulates may not have adequate resources or facilities to provide this service).

Hi,

I would recommend that you post this in the Canada forum, or do a search on this topic, it's been discussed a lot there - for instance if you have only lived in 1 place in Canada you might be able to just use a local police office to do a Canada wide Search.

I don't think the process has changed. The Police certificate had to be mailed to the NVC when we applied almost 3 years ago. I doubt you can get a simple namecheck outside of Canada. You will need to do a full boat fingerprint check which will take about six months to process.

Well, my Brother in Law got his Canada Wide Police check here in Calgary last month. They happened to be visiting here for a week - however, we did ask what he would have to do to obtain it from the U.S. (as they were very busy and only here for a week).

It is entirely possible, in fact they actually sent me an email with complete instructions on how to do it. Chikadee I will be happy to forward the email to you, just send me a pm. Barring that I would recommend you contact your former hometown police service.

Also I remember seeing a thread in the Canada forum last week, someone not in Canada who was able to do the check via the Winnipeg Police Service.

RCMP checks take much longer.
