DS-230 sent where?

Well, we've sent back the I-864 to the NVC! Such a huge packet too! They are gonna love me for all the information I crammed into that envelope! We're just praying now that we've done it all right and they will be pleased.

Now, we were wondering....I am my husband's named agent with a US address. The DS-230 is however a form for my husband to fill out. Are they going to send that to me in the US or directly to hubby's mailing address in Scotland?

They won't send you the actual form, they'll send you a coversheet with the http address of where to find it to download it. Also, they will send these instructions to whoever the choice of agent is.

Oh, so much like the I-864 with the directions. I see. One thing I was curious about. Many people seem to call the NVC for updates on what's happening. Is there a certain number that we can call to find out the status of our case?

Then listen to the options, option 1 is for English and then option 5 is to speak with someone live.

We call the automated system to find out if the message says that they have generated such and such form, mainly so we can use James' shortcuts and be ahead of the game.

Thanks guys! I called the NVC auto for the first time last night. Unfortunately nothing new as I've only just sent the I-864 back, but it's good to know where to call to get updates. I'm just hoping it doesn't take too long for them to generate the DS-230.

Just as an FYI, the automated system won't tell you that they have generated the DS-230, you actually have to talk to a real person and ask them if they have mailed it to you. If they say yes, then wait about 2 weeks for it to arrive.

YAY! My DS-230 just came today (the instructions rather)!

I'm going to get that off ASAP. How long does it generally take between sending the DS-230 back and when the embassy advises you of the interview and medical information?

It takes the NVC about 2 to 3 weeks for them to complete your case. Then they will send it to the the embassy and that could take another 2 weeks. Keep calling the automated system after you send the DS-230, once it says your case has been completed you can talk to a live customer service rep and ask them when they will be sending your paperwork to the embassy.
