Sufi, Congratulations and know you are excited about your family's homecoming.

A quick update. My wife and daughter received their visas today and will be flying to US on Friday.

Sufi

My wife and daughter had their interview today. Their interview time was 8AM. The interview went pretty well. She was interviewed on two separate windows and asked several ususal questions regarding how the marriage was arranged, when we got married, where did we get married, what do i do in the US, how much I earn, when and where our daughter was born, how often I have visited her, where have we lived together since our marriage, key dates of her prior visits to US and other place etc.

In the end, she was told that she meets all requirements of immigrant visa and has been approved. The immigration officer returned all her original documents along with receipts for collecting passports from AMEX. The immigration officer told her that she will receive her visa within a week.

I will keep you posted for any further updates.

I would like to thank all of you for your help, suggestion, support and for sharing your experiences. I wish all of you good luck in your immigration process and wish you a speedy and happy reunion with your families.

Thanks,

Sufi

Thanks alot for the support for trying to reunite with my husband. BYE BYE VJ.

Shon, I've been reading to catch up with your case and I'm sorry to hear your bad news. I have a friend who's also been trying to go thru that embassy for the past 5 years with no progress. The last they heard was that the visa was approved but they lost the file and can't issue it. :sigh: I will keep you in my prayers.

Sufi,

I'm glad that your wife received her Visa within a weeks time from the courier, after she had her interview date. However, what I don't understand is why are some females put under AP. I always thought that AP was only being done to male applicants (beneficiaries). Have they changed that now? I am noticing a lot of posts where females are also waiting 3 to 4 months for the AP to be completed.

AP is now more common for females and there is a new security check called "Material Support" that has hit the ladies now. It is mentioned on Amensity International's web site and went into effect last fall. In a nutshell it effects any foreign country that the person(s) coming to the USA the embassy has to rule out that the family knowingly or unknowingly donated funds to any terrorist groups. Example after the earthquake last year alot of groups opened shop to supposedly aid the victims and they were not doing this, they kept the funds, foods, etc and some may of been unsavory groups.

People wishing to come to America like the Amerisan widows and or persons claiming persection from their government are also having their cases slowed as well. 9/11 commisions changed their terms of what is considered terrorism and it widened so much the definition that is why Amensity International and other groups were concerned over the new security check.

Ladies are also being checked more closely depending on their schooling, job, and if they have traveled extensively.

Couple K3 ws denied yesterday from another consulate. They met like September 2006 and married in October 2006, he was USC and she was from Poland I believe. They did not have any time or history between them and the embassy looks at real close marriages after meetings as for fraud intent.

Edited to reply to edited post above.

Most Desi or Asian couples have arranged marriages so the consulate/embassy acknowledges this so you should be fine.

Here is the link to the poster I mentioned above. Consulates usually want to see a timeline or story for the couple.

1. How they met?

2. When they met and when in person?

3. Proof that the realtionship is legitimate.

Mary, thanks for your response. My co-worker's wife will be flying to Pakistan to attend her IR interview which is scheduled for December. She already reunited with her husband in the U.S. on a K3 Visa a few months after their marriage (this was a few years ago). After her K3 interview, she received her passport via courier within a weeks time.

What troubles me is that instead of doing an AOS, they decided to follow through on the I-130 (when it got approved) at the Islamabad Embassy, which is why she is going to Pakistan. Hopefully, and this is what I told him, she will not be on AP after her December interview since she already was cleared before on the K3. But you never know.

Thanks again.
