Nasir,

Congrats on the interview. Your wife having to submit full set of prints means that her name had a hit in one of the data bases and they will have to come to DC and be manually checked. It does take a little time and once the check is complete she will have her visa issued. Good luck on a speedy turn around.

Hey everyone Assalamo Alaikum.

I just saw this thread.

It seems by your timelines that the avg K3 time for Pakistan is 6 months.

Is this correct??? That would be so awesome.

Any advice to make sure that everything goes smoothly for me????

Thanks!!!!

Nasir,

Congrats on the interview. Your wife having to submit full set of prints means that her name had a hit in one of the data bases and they will have to come to DC and be manually checked. Mary

It appears that way. She told me that from the pool of apprx 25 applicants that day. About 15 got the visa that day, 3 were fingerprinted (2 ladies, 1 guy) and the balance had inclomplete documents. This her est and she could be off.

The notice she got says it will take atleast 30 days to complete the review and if she has not heard in 45 days to contact the consulate.

I guess we will just have to wait little bit longer and inshallah this time shall pass too.

Oh my!!!!!!!!!!

Our K1 has been approved (NOA2)!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On Sept. 26th. I haven't gotten the mail yet, as I'm not yet home. Just found out checking our status. (How come I didn't get an e-mail notification? I have that option turned on...??)

I've been out guiding for a week and unable to check... and all that has happened this week. Ali posted his first posts. He's so sweet and thank you for responding to him Mary and Laney. I haven't gotten to speak with him really yet. I will later today with our good news.

Right now I'm off to the hospital, my uncle has had a massive stroke and is dying. So much happening right now. My heart is heavy and happy at the same time. wow...

I'll try and catch up on all that has happened while I was gone once things settle down with my family. We are very close so this is really hard. Send you thoughts this way if you're so inclined. Is it possible to be this sad and happy at the same time????

Hope all is well with everyone here. Sorry for my long absence - life has been incredibly crazy...

Danika,

I am so sorry to hear of your uncle's illness and will be praying for all of you. I can relate that your happy and sad at the same time sometimes life is like that. I was happy to see Ali had posted and he had written to Mian over the weekend too. Take care of yourself.

And your case should be at the embassy soon. Like Laney said time to get all the paperwork finished and ready to go to Ali. Keep us posted and congrats on the approval.

Hugs,

Mary

Does any know the difference between AP (admin Processing) and AR (Admin Review)?

From what I have been able to understand from the threads is that AP is domestic name check and takes less time whereas AR is done by DOS and takes longer.

Is this correct?

Thanks,

Nasir,

AP is more indepth and they can come to your home, business, schools, etc to check out the validity of your relationship. It is also some background checks and when you call DOS you are in black abyss until they are ready to finish processing. All I heard for 5 months is your case is in AP and we will contact your husband once we are ready to work further on your case via Islamabad. DOS just said your in AP sorry no more information to give you at this time. Omid and I were in AP.

AR is where the name is sent to USA for checks my understanding since when you call DOS they will say your in some type of security check.

My wife had her K-3 interview today.

The Q&A took about 10 mins on std stuff (pictures, how we came to know each other, and review of the requested docs, etc) and was told that her visa is approved. The embassy staff was very friendly and courteous which made the interview process painless.

However, she had to give complete finger prints after the interview and was told that she will be called by FedEx within 60 days so she can pick-up her passport.

She was handed a couple of papers (white) with some info on it......she will fax those to me tommorw. These appear to be simple receipts that she may need when she collects the passports.

Any experiences or comments about the fingerprint process? Does it really take as much as 60 days after you've been told that your visa is approved. ...........

Nasir

Nasir, we're not going through islamabad, but the same thing happened to my fiance (he's living in germany but turkish). He had his interview Aug 30th and was approved, but they had to take his fingerprints, too. the consul told him he could have his visa in as little as 2 weeks when he left. but then he called the embassy to check on something and they said 3 months minimum. they kept his passport, too. let me know if you get any more information, i'm calling DOS every 2 weeks, and so far his file is just sitting in DC, they haven't even started the checks yet :( so i dont know if that 3 month time frame was for the entire process, or once they get the background checks started. It took the consulate 3 months to even schedule his interview, so i'm feeling pretty sure that he had a false hit. anyway, just thought i would let you know theres someone in the same boat! keep us updated, i'll let you know if i get any new info..
