Question about tourist visa and k1

My fiance lives in peru and we are currently waiting for the our NOA2 for our k-1 visa. Her tourist visa expired mid Jan 2006. She is currently not enrolled in school as she plans to transfer her accumulated credits to a US school and it is summer break for them right now. We are thinking about renewing her tourist visa, but she is worried that if they deny her tourist visa it might affect her approval for the k-1 visa. I was not sure and wanted to know what the forum felt about this. Thank you for any thoughts on this matter.

If she has a pending petition for K1 on her bahalf, it is my understanding that it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to renew/obtain a tourist visa.

Perhaps others have more specific info.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail

From what I have read before, they will not renew her visa. They will ask her to wait for the final approval of her petition instead. :)

June 08, 2009 - Mailed packet to TX lockbox

June 12, 2009 - USCIS TX received Packet

June 15, 2009 - Notice Date

June 19, 2009 - Recieved NOA

July 15, 2009 - Scheduled for biometrics

Sept 21, 2009 - Scheduled for Interview ....Passed the interview test

Oct. 16, 2009 - Oath taking
