Do you understand how "gubberment" agencies work? They will only act if there is a dire need or an absolute wrongdoing has taken place, even then, that may not be enough.

hey, nobody is forcing you to do anything....its justa suggestion that might help all of us in the long run, the one thing govt hates is too many people complaining about a certain issue

Good luck. All those guys are going to do for sure is give themselves another raise

I really feel that if enough noise is made something will happen,,but if nobody stands up then we will never know!!!

Indeed if enough people stand up. But there is not enough of us in the VJ alone to make a dent :)

I do believe, and maybe a lot of you won't agree, but I feel with these increase in fees the changes presented as a result, will be very nice. Just to bad they won't help us in the present. ;)

I am all about communicating with my Congressman and I agree with you. I'm sending them a fast blast email about it right now!

Olivia :)

I have tried this with both congressmen and senators and they are of no help unless you are outside the processing time. You need USCIS more than USCIS needs you. Have you any idea how many "customers" they have? They offer a service for which the demand is so high, that they can drag their feet indefinitely and still rake in the dough. The only real way to make a difference is through the law. You gather enough people and a smart group of lawyers who know how to make the arguement, and you can make some real change. But that is going to take a lot of people who are willing to have their NOA1 and NOA2 for their petitions offerred into evidence. I am not a lawyer and I am quite frustrated with this process, but I honestly believe this is the only way to make USCIS make sensible and pragmatic changes. Just my opinion.

You're right. It's not like we can boycott their service...then we'd never see our loved ones.

W e all know that this K1 process is stressfull....to have rthe delays with the service centers make it worst is not fair...we should all stand up and call local congressmen or senators and make noise...if enough people make noise something will be done!!!!!!!!!!!! All we are trying to do is do the right and follow the law and the procedures given to us...

It hasn't even been two months yet. Why not give it some time and contact them when it really counts like if you're stuck in security checks or something like that. Plus you're going through Vermont which is the quickest service center there is. I'm not understanding why you're talking about delays at this point. There are poeple who have been waiting over a full year for their NOA2, and for them I can understand contacting these people but for you I would suggest not rocking the boat until it's time. Just my two cents though.

12/28/06 - got married :)

Don't be disappointed. Just about everyone here goes through a phase when they don't think they can stand waiting on USCIS anymore. 3-4 months seems like a long time, but it will pass much faster than you think. I'm already on my second month, and even though it's hard being away from my fiance, I know I'll make it and I'm certain it's worth it. You'll be with your loved one quicker than you expect. You'll probably look back on this once your together and think "that wasn't too bad." At least that is what many of the people who have already been through this process have said.

Seriously, bombarding your congressman with calls of "this is taking too long" and "why isn't my petition being looked at" isn't going to help.

Send them a letter. Make recommendations as to how they can streamline the system. More employees? Better system? Make the instructions more clear for people? Sure. Get someone "higher up" to forward the letter, if you think that'll help.

But calling won't help in the long run when any major issues start appearing and you actually need the help of your congressman who will just think you're crying wolf again.

I think that many are misunderstanding me....when i say call its not o complain...its to bring to light that they do need a better system..like you said , maybe hire more staff...and other things that might improve everything for all of us.

From what I understand, that is the reasoning behind the fee increase..to hire more staff. I've read somewhere on here that there is a document stating what the fee increases are supposed to be used for, but I don't know where it is. I have read that they are upgrading their system too. that should help I'm sure. Look around the Immigration News and Discussion threads. There may be more information there.

 Maybe once my fiance's been here for 50 years will I look back on the 3 months it took for NOA2 and say it wasn't so bad.

Actually, you're right. One month away from my fiance sucks as much as 3 months The part that sucks the most is not knowing when the misery will end!

If I had a buck for every time we had people start a letter writing campaign on here, I'd be a rich woman......

Family immigration is not a priority for the government. It never will be. It is simply a priviledge that we, as citizens, have. Just relax. Your time will come.

This is the whole point. We don't have the right to "demand" (as another poster suggested) anything from the USCIS. It's a privilege we have that we're able to bring our foreign spouse or fiancé(e) to the US.

Seriously, bombarding your congressman with calls of "this is taking too long" and "why isn't my petition being looked at" isn't going to help.

Don't you think they already know all this, that they know improvements are needed? I know this waiting is horrible...been there done that too. But look at the overall picture here...what's a few months of waiting when you have your whole lifetime together?
