My timeline (below) recommends I call USCIS. I've spoken with them before and it's not a very satisfying experience. What should I ask them? The Timeline says it's "due per USCIS processing times", yet thier own timelines say they're right on schedule (they say they're now handling applications from 2006

Any advice?

Thanks,

Based on timeline data, your I130 may be adjudicated as early as July 4, 2007*.

If this date has passed by more than 10 days or your application is past due per USCIS processing times then you should consider calling the USCIS to inquire on your petition. If you have been approved please update your timeline.

The VJ timeline is a guesstimate based on other filings. First check the current processing times at your service center. If six months have not passed since your NOA1 date, they generally won't do anything. If you are outside of processing time, you could also contact your state senator via their online privacy form and make a request for them to check your case status. But they may also refuse to do this if you are not outside of normal processing time.

Thanks, but don't you think the processing times are next to useless? I mean they list a date of Dec 14th 2006 and we know people are being approved. I'm told that's the oldest one they're working on.

Yup - they are useless. And showing the oldest one they're working on is to cover their azzes. That's why people refer to VJ timelines - to get a better *idea* of when they *might* see their approval.

After calling USCIS for info over a period of 4 years I came to the conclusion it's a waste of time punching buttons and being on hold waiting for someone who sometimes can barely speak English and even if they can gives you the wrong information most of the time.

Even if they "maybe" gave me the right info I got to the point where I didn't trust them for being correct.

I guess they are good for checking to see if your case is in their data base when you first get started.

After that you have to "wing it".

I hate punching one for ENGLISH also!!!

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Well, I did notice that my VJ estimate has changed to Aug 18th. I suppose VJ adjusted to the tremendous slowdown that those of use who had the misfortune to file in March are experiencing.

I've found that the non-native English speakers are usually the most friendly, as they can personally understand what this is all about. And don't worry about pressing 1 for English. If the English-only crowd were running the show, we'd have a considerably harder time.

If you can call the Honolulu office, they're bound to be the most friendly. Back when there was the INS, I always called the HI office because they were friendly and took the time.
