The items you must send into the consulate to get your interview date are as follows:

Check-list (signed and dated with address)

DS-230 Part I (unsigned)

Two Passport Photos (Print name on back in felt tip marker)

Copy of Passport

Make sure you put your case number on the outside of the envelope and address it to the "Immigrant Visa Unit".

Just a little clarification on the 4 items:

The check is for $100, right?

The passport photos are of her (the Thai national)?

The copy of passport is hers?

Oh, and how/when do you contact NVC to get a case # and find out status? Thanks.

-Tong Daeng

The $100 is a joke, but it will have to be paid (actually 4,000 baht) at a Thai Post Office to get the fee receipt for the interview.

Yes the passport and photos are of her.

As for contacting the NVC, go to the NVC forum, or wait till you get your letter from them.

Hi guys...

well.. I have some questions - my friend is marrying an American but she is now a J-1 and is in america... I'm wondering if she needs all the form like a K-1 AOS or different? and what would she use for A# and also.... where can i find a fillable form? the form from here is not a fillable form (or it's just me?) I'm trying to help her doing her AOS and i have no clue :help:

Thanks

K-1 = 4 months

AOS = 5 months

I-751 = almost one year

anya-D,

Does your friend's J-1 visa have the 2-year 'return home' requirement?

The best "clues" come from a consultation with an immigration attorney, or perhaps if your friend is at a university the foreign student office should have knowledgable people who can tell her what she needs to know. This is not an uncommon situation for foreign exchange students.

anya-D,

Without the 2-year issue a consultation with an attorney may be less important, but it's still a good investment. The best advice almost always comes from a professional who has discussed the details of a person's situation with them.

The I-485 is fillable, as are many of the forms now. Just see what's available on the USCIS site first. At least that way she will have the most recent versions. That htm also has links to all the other forms and procedures necessary to adjust status while in the U.S.

I just went to DMV and change the name and address on my driver's licence.. the picture looks horrible - so big - so fat!!! (cant really blame the camera on that one) it was so fast, in and out in 10 minutes.. only thing is they took my old driver's licence since it has like 4 years remain... too bad..the old pic was nicer

Tomorrow is the Interview day for AOS !!!! excited!
