Interview was so easy! My appointment was at 8 am, I was there at about 7.15 am, I got seen at half past eight and was out of there before 9 am! It never gets done that quickly. Usually I wait for hours and hours. I didn't have my birth certificate (I thought ID and house registration would be enough) so I need to drop that off tomorrow and hope to pick up the visa next Tuesday. Questions were easy: where did you meet, what happened, previous visits to the US, etc.

Did you bring the big brown envelope and the small white one given by the hospital to the embassy or just the 3 medical exam forms?

I am also wondering why I am asked again for some of the documents that I already sent as what was indicated in the packet 3...like the police and the foreign police clearance...I don't have the originals of them anymore just the copies

I brought all the medical stuff, but they only took the smaller brown envelope and I had to carry the damn x-ray around all day. They didn't ask me for anything except the evidence of relationship, which I didn't mail in. Everything else I did. But I got the evidence back, along with the evidence sent in with the I-134. Finally hauled #### to Bangrak and got copies of my birth certificate and name change certificate and will drop that off tomorrow at the embassy. I am so over the paperwork!

QUOTE (cheryl & jim @ Jan 20 2009, 10:20 AM)

I am also wondering why I am asked again for some of the documents that I already sent as what was indicated in the packet 3...like the police and the foreign police clearance...

I believe that after receiving Packet 3 you are to mail back:

1) I-130 Part 1

2) the checklist itself, acknowledging all items have been aquired or completed as required

The items, such as police certificate, should be obtained and brought to the interview not mailed in.

My fiancee soon wants to get her police certificate in Bangkok, however she believes the police require some letter from the US Consulate. Anyone who has done this recently remember if any forms can fulfill this, such as the packet 3 checklist, NOA1 or NOA2, etc?

Timed out and I couldn't edit my post.

My apologies, on the list above

1) I-130 Part 1

was meant to be 2) DS-230 Part 1

Typographical error

The packet 3 has been updated it requires all the documents now not just DS-230 part 1, photo and copies of your passport. The documents that was indicated by an asterisk in the packet 3 like the birth cert, cert of no marriage, and passport need copies, the rest are original.

After carefully reviewing the checklist these items also appeared

two frontal photographs and

a photocopy of a passport photo page

together with what I already listed:

1)DS-230 Part 1

2) the checklist itself, acknowledging all items have been aquired or completed as required

When you say needed, do you mean that they need to be mailed back to the Cosulate, or are they brought to the interview?

All documents are needed to be mailed back to the consulate and bring the original of birth cert, cert of no marriage, passport and evidence of relationship to the the interview.

I was confused when Packet 4 came and it gave a list of documents to take to the interview when Packet 3 asked everything be mailed in. I was a little unsure if I'd gotten it wrong, but that's how it's supposed to be. You send it all in with the checklist except for the originals of a few things and your medical, of course.

In the instructions we got in the mail, they said to send back all the documents, except for evidence of relationship, however we did send in our photos (6 pages with 6 pictures on each page).

Also I believe for the Police Clearance you just need to show them the NOA2 to start the process, there is a bunch of other items you have to bring, including a copy of the Petitioners US Passport. I am pretty sure if you showed them the NOA1, they would do it also, they looked at if for 2 seconds and said go over there and fill out a form.

HELP!

Customs at JFK did not give Noi a copy of her completed I-94, so now she has no documentation to get SSN number. Who do I contact to solve this?!

A quick internet search turned this up.

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0000ecd190aRCRD

I would try to contact JFK prior to filing with the USCIS as it would be an expensive mistake (fee is $320 to get the replacement!). They should have stapled the I-94 into her passport.

My wife is too nervous to go it alone, needs me there. Shes not planniong on coming till April anyway.

I don't think it matters, from what I have been told the petitioner can't go to the interview anyways. I was told you have to wait outside of the embassy, so they will be in there alone anyways.

Yes, I know but I need to still be there and take her to the embassy with all the correct documents, etc.

I called NVC today, they sent the 129f tot he Embassy on the 14th. I'm going to try and track if they have it yet and entered into the system. Although, I am sure, they will be sending the P-3 to my wife long before we send the P-3 back to Bangkok. Need to time this correctly so I can be there.

Hah, now thing are moving too fast and I need to slow them down....:P

I called NVC again, just for confirmation that the packet left on the 14th and the very helpful pleasant lady told me the same info. It left on the 14th.

After using the DHL website and calling them for more info, which this lady was also very helpful, I confirmed things landed in BKK at the embassy and signed for on the 17th.

I emailed visabkk2@state.gov at 10pm and 11pm got this response from them:

The IV Unit of the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok is now loading the above

captioned case from NVC. Once we receive the case in both physical and

electronic files from NVC, we will notify the applicant by mailing the

Packet 3 - an instructional letter to her address.

Regards,

Correspondence Unit

So hopefully my wife will get the P-3 next week.

This would be nice, then I will be holding things up for a change...:)

My interview went well. The consular officer was nice and friendly. No reason to get nervous and sweat as long as you meet all the requirements.

But I will have to go back in 4 weeks to bring my new passport coz my recent one is damage and I did not know it.
