Jeraly - just read your last wedding post, is your 'non-legal' wedding in the UK?? Why did I think you were coming to the states for the wedding and then going back?? or am I totally confused? or are you doing one in both places and then the vegas thing?

Ahhh! Missed you!!! :D Glad you had a lovely time and gratzies on the packet 3!!!

You're right - I am having a non-legal wedding in the US next month, then when I get back we will have an evening reception in the UK at the end of June then we will fly out and do the Vegas thing - it's all very complicated and I am contemplating tattooing my plans across my forehead as I keep repeating myself over and over and I think I am confusing everyone  Maybe I'll wait 'til after I get back from the US next month before I go for the tattoo option though...

That sounds fabulous!! You both deserve a nice honeymoon in Hawaii after all this ####### (immigration in general), heck we all do lol! It's getting down to the wire, you've got to be so excited! A while back when you said you weren't concerned about your petition getting approved and that your wedding was in February I thought you meant NEXT February. I can't believe you were so calm about it. I'd have been freaking out. Congratulations to you both and goo dluck with all the planning.

Lol - oh no - I meant this Feb... seriously - I was freaking out a lot at the beginning but once we realised there was a *very* slim chance we would get the visa in time we looked at all our other options. Wedding was booked in April last year when processing times were 6-7 months and the whole backlog mess along with a four week delay because of the lame postal service meant we filed when we did - if it hadn't been for the ####### up with the post we would be June filers and everything would have probably gone according to plan...

BUT!!! It has taught me how to be calm and versatile and address all our options. As my family had already booked tickets, we had booked the wedding, paid deposits etc, it was going to cost us thousands to cancel. We contemplated cancelling the K-1 and going down the K-3/CR-1 route. We contemplated cancelling the wedding and trying to afford reimbursing everyone... there are so many things we considered that all told we decided that the best things was to make sure we had a non-legal wedding and hope I get through immigration.

Personally I can't see it being too much of a problem - they won't know I am applying for a visa, I have no intention of overstaying my welcome or doing anything that would breach the visa conditions, all they need to know is that I am entering the US to go on holiday and that I am going to see my OH for his birthday/Valentine's/my birthday :) If they ask questions then I will tell them - I just don't mention "non-legal wedding" because let's face it - it sounds dodgy as hell even if it isn't!!!

So yeah - there's our visa story in a nutshell!! In a way it is nice because we can have that little while longer to save for a place to live and we know when I am going to be coming out so we can plan things a bit better - I can also be here for my mum's 50th birthday :)

Just Immigration to face and I will be fine...:unsure::whistle:

Hey Jeraly... I've been thinking about you and your non-legal wedding and just had some thoughts to run by you... although i'm sure you've fully thought this through- but.... just in case you haven't......

When you come thru in February, will you have all your "wedding gear" with you? Because if they are suspicious of you at all, they'll go through your stuff... And a white dress and wedding rings sorta gives it away, even if it is a non-legal wedding, it will be cause for concern on their part. Will you be sending your wedding dress and rings etc ahead of time? Just a thought, in case you do get caught up at immigration...

Hello to the board!!!! just back from 2 fab weeks in London, and now impatiently waiting for our interview date!! Our Packet 3 was received and we were eligible for the interview as of Dec 28th, just not scheduled yet. hopefully soon *crosses every digit* as our feb 16th wedding is 6 weeks and 1 day away!!!! ahhhhhhhhhh

Just wanted to say hello to everyone, congrats to all the good news (have been doing tons of reading to catch up!!) looks like July is off to the races!!!

Julez - that is freaking amazing about your interview!!! I can't believe THEY called HIM!!!! Congrats and good luck (not that you'll need it!) how's the wedding planning coming?? is he flying back with you when you go out there mid January??

Thanks Sara! Welcome back!!!!!!!

I still cannot believe the interview is Monday!! The wedding planning is coming along pretty well, although I still don't have a dress!!! But the luncheon is booked and the Honeymoon suite, as well. Just nailing down the ceremony location as my #1 choice is no longer available. :( Trying not to freak out too much!

As for his arrival, I'm flying back 1/26 and he'll follow on 1/31. He just wants to spend a few days with his Dad as he won't see him for a while.

You seriously need to call or email the embassy to get your interview date scheduled! I'm getting nervous for you!

Haha - yeah - I figured a big white dress might look a bit dodgy so I am sending it with my mum who is travelling out a couple days later and Jeremy has the rings with him :) I might even send the bridesmaid dresses with mum just to be sure!!! I'm only taking one case as well so it doesn't look like I am intending to stay long - Jeremy has some of my clothes and things out there already - I've been filtering things back with him when he has come to visit :D

Oh julez I am so excited for you!!!!

Oh lovely!!!! I am so glad it was nice :) I am just worried because I will be entering the US rather than Jerremy coming here - I am pretty certain it will all be ok but be prepared to have me repeat myself lots and go on about it until I leave... Oh and about a week before I will prolly be a neurotic mess... You've been warned!!!!

I want to see pics now!! :D

And yeah - I hate goodbyes too. I can cope with the distance although it has taken me a long time to do so but the actualy process of going away is by far the worst part :P At least it is now we know soon we will be together forever :luv:
