Well since i initially started the one in this timeline to be more efficent and track our JulyFilers progress, i have to say that Jeraly's idea is much better. Good going weedebz for creating that and running it. my goal was to make it easy to see where you stood in relation to other july filers. this spreadsheet is great!!! now you always see the most current.

now we just need to make sure its noticable in the thread so that people can find Weedebz to post changes as we all get NOa2s and future dates.

I agree! It means we can get to know each other instead of having an ever-expanding, constantly updating list that takes up so much space!! It being in WeeDebz' sig means we can all see it easily and regularly unless she decides to vanish on us so we can have it updated and glorious other things!

Oh - and I have added the maps to my sig as well now ;) Thought that was a great idea although I am trying to colour the links... anyone have any ideas!?

You can also click on the link in the sig and when it comes up, add it to your favorites in your browser, then you don't have to look for WeeDebz signature.

The new timeline looks great and believe me I am a big fan of spreadsheets. However, I have a few concerns.

Can only one person edit the timeline now? Hopefully that will eliminate loss of data and other errors, but what if that person disappears? Can this be open access or maybe have several people with the ability to edit?

Despite its limitations I kind of liked the original concept. It felt like a real team effort. Personally I found that the existence of the timeline brought me back frequently to the forum and I suspect it did so for others also. During the great wedding plan discussion era, I doubt if I would have been here much but the timeline brought me back. With the timeline being off the thread, I suspect that lots of people might just bookmark the spreadsheet and bypass the forum.

Is the timeline still restricted to K1 applicants? I can tell you from the research I did for the VSC forum that the K3 visas are processed a lot more slowly than the K1's. I think if they are mixed together in one table it will diminish the effectiveness of the timeline.

If K1's & K3's are both included, I suggest they be separated. Either have two service center categories for each visa type or two visa type categories for each service center.

If this will continue to be K1 visa only, I suggest making that clear in the title.

Is there any reason why more than one person can't link to the spreadsheet in their signature? I think that was a great idea.

In any case, it is great to see everyone sharing their data and trying to make things better all the time. I think this is a wonderful group!

Yeah - anyone can add the link in their sig - as for editing the spreadsheet I am quite happy for whoever to do it - it doesn't have to be forgotten - if we get new members we can ask them if they have give info for the spreadsheet and add it accordingly.

I am sure having more than one person editing it would be good although I think it would be easier to limit the number of people who do edit it as with too many people the formatting gets lost, information gets moved or things don't get saved properly and it is all a bit of a nightmare as I am finding out with these maps! I have lost count how many times I have had to re-enter information, consolidate information, move information, add information, add extra instructions for people who aren't even reading them etc etc!!!

I think having the timeline on the spreadsheet means we can use this forum to interact with each other and not just a timeline. I also think that it is easier to keep the format so if there is more than one person editing it then it won't be so easy to leave out information. Plus it saves space.

Of course, there are always issues ;) I just think it is much clearer in the spreadsheet ;)

As for K1 and K3, this is a K1 forum so why would there be K3 stuff there? Esp at the moment when we have barely left the month for which we are filing to petition for K1...?

P.S. Is there some way you can indicate a difference between the two embassies in Canada, ie: Montreal and Vancouver. I have a question for you, Rick & Dixie: my boyfriend lives in Toronto. I thought that he would be able to have his interview there because there is a Consulate there. Hey! Welcome to the forum! I am sure if you PM WeeDebz or if she is floating around then she will add you to our ongoing July Filer spreadsheet which you can link to in the sig at the bottom of one of her posts :)

You can fill in your timeline... by clicking on the "My Assistant" link at the top of the page. I had to check that cause I always forget :) You can also edit your profile/details and add a sig to put in your key dates as a lot of people do :) I am very sad and spend too much time playing with geeky things like that so have an enormous sig that takes up more space than most of my posts ;D

Don't panic about waiting times :) If there is one thing being here has taught me, it is that once you start the process, all you can do is wait - worrying about things and getting upset isn't going to make things move any quicker - it just makes the adventure feel stressful and even more long-winded!

Anyway, as I said before, welcome ;)

Hi, and welcome to the group.

K-1 Visas are only processed via the embassy in Montreal or Vancouver. Since your boyfriend lives in Toronto, he will be processed through Montreal. As for the wait times, it varies by the service center that you are using and your own personal circumstances. Right now, Montreal is experiencing huge backlogs. Read through some of the other threads directly related to the Montreal embassy, and you will get a better idea of what other people are experiencing. Also, take some time to familiarize yourself with the "Immigration Timelines" and how they work. You can enter your own personal information into them, and get a much better idea of how long the process is going to take.

The 6 months I was talking about was after the Embassy in Montreal receives the approved petition.

Don't forget to keep your own timeline updated as this is what keeps the statistics as accurate as possible.

As for the "1 month" thing...

Try to relax. It's going to be a long road. Good luck to both of you.

Billy.....I'm just worried that if we leave it open that things will get added out of order / info will be lost / stuff will get corrupted / we'll have same problem as before with multiple people trying to edit at same time. I have stored a backup onto my laptop too so if website goesdown all data not lost. I can assure you I aint going anywhere. Also once we all graduate K1 process. If we all keep in touch I'll start an AOS on sheet 2 behind that one.

Hope everyone ok with me doing this.

I have lost count how many times I have had to re-enter information, consolidate information, move information, add information, add extra instructions for people who aren't even reading them etc etc!!! I agree with the risk of too many editors causing chaos. So could you select a few trusted moderators and give them access?

I think having the timeline on the spreadsheet means we can use this forum to interact with each other and not just a timeline. I also think that it is easier to keep the format so if there is more than one person editing it then it won't be so easy to leave out information. Plus it saves space. I don't see how a timeline prevented anyone from interacting if they wanted to. Remember the subtitle of this thread is "Post Your Status & Progress Here" and I think the timeline was very consistent with that. At this point the timeline has been removed from the thread and the posts that remain will I suspect be less consistent with the title. If that is what the group wants it is fine with me. As long as I can see the data somewhere and quickly compare my situation to others who have filed in July, I will be happy. :)

Of course, there are always issues ;) I just think it is much clearer in the spreadsheet ;)Either way is fine with me, as long as we deal with the issue of the number of editors.

As for K1 and K3, this is a K1 forum so why would there be K3 stuff there? Esp at the moment when we have barely left the month for which we are filing to petition for K1...? Because now the spreadsheet has been separated from the K1/July Filers forum. It is now being advertised in members signatures as a July filers spreadsheet without it being clear that it is for K1 filers. Members with links in their signatures are not likely to restrict themselves to this forum so it is quite likely that eventually other types of filers will wish to add their data or try to use the spreadsheet to guage their own progress. So I am saying, make it clear in the title and the signature links that this is a K1 spreadsheet, and be sure to separate the visa types if other types are permitted in the future.
