seeking congressman's help

Hello friends. I filed my I-130 127 days ago and my I-129 about 117 days ago. going by the statistics i was expecting an approval in mid june. However, it didn't happen

Now i am scared and restless as what to do. I was thinking of seeking help from my local congressman. maybe he can write to uscis on my behalf and request them to process my case within atleast the 6 month period they have given- which is coming fast and nothing has happened on my files.

any recommendations on how to approach the situation???? thanks for ur help.

You can probably get more help from the K-3 Spouse Visa General Discussion forum, but I think you are still within normal processing times, so I doubt a congressman will be able to help. Nevertheless, if you have connections, you can possibly get your case looked at.

When I contacted my Congressman's office, I had to be able to prove something was terribly wrong besides just being tired of waiting....if that makes sense. I think they get a lot of requests from people that are just being impatient. I am not saying that is what your situation is...I don't really know the timeframe for a K-3 visa.

In our situation, the USCIS had "administratively closed" our petition without notifying anyone of this. Of course our lawyer had sent the petition to the wrong place to begin with (so he was at fault initially) but once the wrong service center received it, they should have either sent it back to us or forwarded it on to the correct service center. And most certainly, if they close it, they should have notified someone. We didn't even find out it was closed until almost 5 months after they had done it (and almost 9 months from when we originally filed). Instead of waiting approx. 3 months for a NOA2 (average process time), we waited almost a year. That is basically why we were granted the Congressional Inquiry.

Listen, if you think something is wrong, it doesn't hurt to contact your Congressman and ask....all they can do is say no. Before they can interact and do anything, they will need a "Request for Assistance/Privacy Act Release Form" faxed or mailed to them. Something that I am sure they will supply to you, if granted.

Oh yeah..and the funny thing is....

A couple of weeks ago I received a check in the mail for $170.00. No explanation, no nothing with the check. I didn't know why I rec'd it but then figured that it must be the filing fee from the first petition. Although it still shows pending on the website, and who knows if I called...I just never call anymore, no need to. I'm still not positive if that is why I got that check in the mail...but who am I to question money being sent to me in the mail...lol....I cashed it and bought REO Speedwagon tickets! (just an ol' rocker at heart)

I really dont find any use of congressmen ,

but as said by many there is no harm to try, so u can try neel by contacting them n getting any expedition,

I would definately contact the congressman. I contacted mine when it had been more than 2 months after the approval with no interview date. They looked into it and interview was schduled within 2 weeks. Hope this helps..
