Esalaam/Hello/Salut

Sorry not many around. But I do know it is rather difficult for Americans to get visas into Libya and even harder to marry there. I would go about getting married in Tunis, if you can. About 3 week deal as Americans cannot no longer marry in Egypt. But either way you will be dealing with Cairo or Tunis for the visa. Cairo seems to be much difficult to deal with. The one Libya case I have seen so far dealt with Cairo. Also as far as I know, spousal visas are much easier with Libyan SOs, then fiancee (they seem to really make a big deal about evidence of the relation)

I'm here :D My husband is Libyan and we got his visa with NO problems at all! I have a friend who is also a member here as well and she and her husband are going through the process and so far they have NO hitches at all either! :D

I wouldn't recommend meeting in Tunisia for several reasons... some personal  but it's much more practical IMHO to meet in Egypt because it's cheaper and the shopping is to DIE for!

You can PM me with questions or ask here and I'll answer as much as I'm able. Hopefully I can help you somewhat.

Good luck with your journey! (F)

Alhamdulillah: As far as I know the person asked about a I-130 (spousal visa) and as far as I know, Egyptian filers can confirm this Americans are not allowed to marry in Egypt anymore. That is why I suggested Tunis. But true, Egypt is much cheaper LOL!

Mabrouk on your marriage!!!...buuuut I assumed you were not married yet, so I meant hard for you (if you are not married) to obtain even a tourtist visa, which the Libyan goverment have limited you need to have sufficient financial means ($500), yellow fever vacs and proof of a return ticket. But as you said you are married, then I assume it would only need a invitiation letter and letter of support from the Libyan citizen (SO) Any case, good luck!

I think about a month or two ago the Egyptian government stopped accepting the forms from the US Embassy that stated you are able to get married. That was a key document needed when I married there back in December. Not only that, I have read reports from an egyptian forum where couples go into the ministry of justice and once they show the US passport they're just turned away. I mention this because some have tried to get around the US Embassy document by having a lawyer draw one up here but they won't even look at anything if you're from the US. Don't know what is up with that at all but scuttle is that they're trying to crank down on fraudulent marriage for visas.
