Hi guys, I have a question about Police Certificate which is needed with Packet 3. Here is my situation. My wife was born and raised in Lucknow. We got married in Delhi. She has been living in Delhi since our marriage (01-03-07). She does travel back and forth to Lucknow. Where do we get the Police Certificate from? Delhi or Lucknow? Our marriage was registered in Delhi and on the Visa application we have shown the Delhi address. I would guess that I would have to get it done in Delhi, but I wanted to ask the experts on here... :) She is currently in Lucknow.

IT REALLY DOESNT MATTER WHERE SHE IS NOW ,

WHAT YOU HAVE TO REALISE IS YOU HAVE TO GET POLICE CERTIFICATE FROM THE PLACE YOU HAVE FILED IN PETITION ,

SO AS PER YOU WROTE DELHI ADDRESS

SHE NEEDS DELHI POLICE CERTIFICATES

AND ONE FROM HER REGIONAL PASSPORT ISSUING AUTHORITY

THAT IS IF HER PASSPORT WAS ISSUED FROM DELHI YOU NEED PCC FROM DELHI PASSPORT AUTHORITY

IN CASE YOU GET IT FROM DELHI NO NEED TO MENTION LATER ALL IN INTERVIEW THAT SHE IS GOING BACK N FORTH N ETC

BE AS PRECISE IN INTERVIEW N REPLY AS PRECISELY TO WHAT EVER IS ASKED ,

IF YOU TELL MORE THEY ASK MORE N MORE N MORE .

I WANT TO ADD ONE MORE POINT HERE MANY PLACES IN DELHI DONT ISSUE PCC FOR PEOPLE LIVING LESS THAN A YR IN DELHI

BUT DO NOT WORRY IF U SHOW THE INTERVIEW LETTER N WITH LITTLE CHAI PANI THERE ARE NO ISSUES AT ALL .

Where did she get her passport? She also needs a PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) from the passport office (if the passport was issued more than 6 months ago). If she got her passport in Lucknow, she would need to get a certificate from there. Doc_cute also mentioned that Delhi does not like to give police certificates to people living in Delhi less than a year. If that happens, you could have her get the local police certificate also from Lucknow, showing she has lived there her whole life.

The main thing is to get the PCC issued and they are not very particular about where it is issued. My husband tried to get a police certificate from Hyderabad, where he lived for the last 2 years, but he had no paperwork showing he lived there (no bank account, ration card showing that address, etc.) so they refused it. He therefore got his local police certificate from the town near where he grew up (where his bank account and all other paperwork showed the address). Then he got the Police certificate from passport office from Visakhapatnam, where his passport was issued (though he never lived there in his life!).

I got PCC from both places where she was born and lived and also from my city. Even though she lived with my family for 6 months. The reason I got it from my city is because on everything that we have filed so far, it has my home address as her permanent address. I just didn't want to take chance. Also, I got another PCC from Lucknow passport office.

Hope this helps!!
