OH I got another one.......figuring Texas now.

It would probably be very nice if you bought her a kettle

Found alot of people down there didn't have one and just used pots to boil water.

YESSSSSSS my hubby actually heats his water for tea in the microwave..

My mother punched him for that one :)

Hee hee.. The first time he tried to use my electric kettle he didn't know how to use it and couldn't get it to work believe it or not!

Just coming into this thread to say that a) I love it, and I'm not even Canadian, and B) I have had that very same kettle experience! My now-husband bought me a kettle last summer (bless 'im), and was absolutely AMAZED by it, for some reason. He didn't know electric kettles existed (lucky I was there when he bought it, to point out that the stove-top ones are pretty but nothing more than a fancy saucepan!), and to be honest, still seems puzzled by the thing to this day.(L)

Right, back to reading the rest of the thread... I like this one! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

Where did your husband get the kettle as i tried to find one and they were the suckiest kettles i have ever seen....... You would be lucky to get a cut out of it.

Hehee... I think my husband's quite proud of ours, like it's some really exotic and luxurious kitchen appliance, rather than just... y'know, a kettle. He kept it out on display for the entire time I wasn't here while we were applying for the K-1, even though he'd never use it, and I'm not even sure he'd know how to! S'funny!

so cowboys on the open range used to make a dish called chicken-fried steak -- steak pounded very thin, coated in some kind of special batter, then fried in an inch or two of oil. Apparently, someone thought it would be brilliant to fry chicken that way. How it is different from tradition fried chicken, I'm not quite sure....all I know it just sounds weird to see the phrase "chicken-fried chicken"!

Oh, another one that touches upon what others have said. Don't assume or say that the majority of Canadians want to be Americans... we don't. :)

Also when she says that certain things taste "better" in Canada and that stuff in the U.S. is "too sweet", don't argue with her because it's true. Canada doesn't use HFCS in most of it's sweetened foods & drinks.

Hear, hear!

I can't tell you the number of times I've been angry at some poor schlep who's said to me, "So you wanna become a Yankee ay?!" HELL NO! I'll keep my Canadian citizenship, thank you!

Oh, and I hate HFCS. Hate it. Hate it. Haaaaate. Bee ordered a Pepsi when he first came to Vancouver and now he also refuses to digest anything with HFCS in it.
