Only thing you need from the CR part is the notice of approval when you adjust status for the K3 in the US.

No need pay anything more for the I-130 = Cr part.

Better if go with the CR tho as the K3 will end up costing a lot more plus it's a shitty visa compared to the CR.

Won't be able to work or do anything much without the GC, EAD and SSN.

Have to pay USCIS $1015 for AOS, EAD and AP.

While you'll get SSN and GC shortly after arriving in the US with the CR.

We did the whole trip and wished we'd stayed with the CR BIGTIME now!!!

Do not respond to any mail from NVC, and the CR1 will not proceed. What is better is to respond with a letter indicating you would like the I-130 returned to the service center to await your adjustment of status. Don't pay any bills associated with the I-130 because you won't get the money back.

pushbrk,

Failure to respond could get the I-130 petition returned to the USCIS as abandoned, which could muck up the adjustment of status. The letter you suggest is more than better.

Yes, it is better to inform NVC that you are not going to continue CR1.

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

My wife has an interview date at the Local Embassy on July 5'th and she gathered all the documents on packet 4 and did her medical. Now I recieve the AOS bill for the I-130 as well ....

I am going to have to call them and ask them to return the case to VSC because she already has her interview scheduled and will be here shortly (GOD willing).

Sure can! A friend did so and ended up having the 2 interviews. Passed the K3 and she came to the US and went back a month later and did the CR.

They didn't want to go thru the hassle of adjusting status.

They got their GC and SSN WAY before they would have doing AOS for the K3.

Saved money in the long run as she went to work a month after her second arrival.

K3s SUCK!!!

Yep I just checked the new fee schedule $1010 for AOS. Darn ... In the other hand to become a citizen I believe its not a high price to pay. I just wish that the new fees will make the process faster as they promised!!!

neophi,

The race is over, but an immigrant visa is an alternative to adjusting status and some people do follow that route.
