I am looking for a Packet 3 checklist that is received from the Consulate in Sydney, Australia. Can anyone help me out and let me know what all is on there and what we will need?

Thanks!

06-12-06 - Met with lawyer, filed for a K-1 visa

07-17-06 - NOA1

10-31-06 - Touched

01-29-07 - Found out from USCIS that my lawyer had filed at the wrong service center and nothing has been processed.

02-08-07 - Found out that our petition had been closed back in Oct. 2006. No one was ever notified of this from USCIS

02-09-07 - Began gathering paperwork once again to start all over. Started cancelling our wedding plans

Will try as best i can - if anyone thinks i've missed something... pls add...

they send you a form DS - 230I - biographic data that you must send back to the consulate asap as they wont start processing your case until that is recieved.

there are another two forms to fill out - one is sent to you and the other is found online (this is explained in the letters and the address online to find the other form) you dont sign these - you do so in front of the consular officer in your interview.

* evidence of relationship

*Please obtain original documents or certified copies of an appropriate authority for yourself and all unmarried children under 21 - who will accompany you to the US. all docs that relate to your petitiion are required, even if thye were previously submitted to USCIS with your petiition (so basically - just give them everything you sent in with the petition)

*birth certificates

*or unobtainable birth certificates (examples are given of what you can provide)

*child custody (if applicable)

*passports

*deportation (if applicable)

*medical examination (arranging a medical with one of the physicians that the consulate provides you contacts with)

*court and prison records (if applicable)

*military records (if applicable)

*termination of prior marriages (if applicable)

*translations (if applicable)

affidavit of support - petitioner provides this

photographs - 2 are required for the consulate

police certificate (examples of what is needed is given)

as soon as you have all these you send in a form that they provide saying that your ready for your interview.... which i guess will issue packet 4.

with the medical - dont forget to take with you - your case number that NVC assigns to you - not the USCIS case number....

hope this makes sense... i only got my medical done today... if your in Sydney - i suggest Dr Waks - he's fantastic!

Thanks very much!!!!

I have heard stories about getting the police certificate and in some countries it can take a very long time. Can you tell me how long to except (approx.) in Sydney and how to go about getting that?

I will tell Darryl about Dr. Waks!!!

Thanks again

Kym, it was about 10 days between when I got my fingerprints taken and when I received my police certificate.

Don't be worried, its quick and its easy! :) I'm from Sydney too... just ring up your local police station and ask to come in to get your fingerprints taken for a national police certificate. Its very important that you get fingerprints, not just a name check. On the phone they will tell you how much it will cost and when to come in. Usually you don't have to book but if they're always too busy to do it (like they were for me) you might be able to book ahead on Sunday.

They ask for the fee in cash and theres a form to download online and fill out. Or you can fill it out on the day I hear. You need to take a few forms of identification too. They'll cover all that on the phone I'm sure. Call your local police station and ask for "A National Police Certificate with fingerprints".

Also, I saw Dr Waks too, I liked him, he's very friendly.
