Hi,

Lorna and I are sitting here in Oregon after her arrival a week ago wondering about her SSN.

We put a check in the box asking for a SSN card on the DS230 form and my question is:

Since we put a check in this box, does Lorna automatically get issued and mailed her SS card?

The box on the form is in a pic below....thanks!

It should arrive in about 3 weeks from what I've read.

Here's a useful thread about it:

it should. Does always do it. If she doesn't get it in the mail, visit your local SSA and see if they got her info or not.

Yep, we received SS card about 2 weeks after her arrival. However, we've had quite a lot of trouble with correct spelling of her name, not only with Social Security, but also my bank and my health insurance. We've had to request a new SS card with the correct name and had to visit the local SS office to do that.

She also received her green card about 3 weeks after arrival.

Yes, it should arrive within 2-4 weeks, if not, then you have to apply for it at your local SSA office.

It should arrive about 3-4 weeks, but it does not happen all the time. Please visit the local SS office, have her take the passport with CR-1 visa, and talk to SS office. They can find out whether she is on their system or not. Based on that, they can also ask her to apply for SSN right at the spot.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
