Hi All....

I have just got back from our Interview at the embassy today...the people there seem to be really nice.

Well, we arrived at 8am..it woulda been 7:30 if we didnt have to do a full circle around the building! got our ticket and waited...we were guessing who was "Future American" at this point...my guess was Number 3...

I was called to the little booth type place, number 1. Took all my forms and everything seemed to be going well...then handed my I-864 forms over...one from my wife (all zeros as she was a student) and our co-sponsor, my father in law, we had all the photocopies apart from a form called 1040, it's some tax return form. Anyway, the nice lady said i wouldnt get my visa today because of this... she told me to go and pay at booth number 15 and bring the receipt back to her. I thought oh gosh...i didnt see Number 3 (Future American???) do that...

I paid...took receipt back to the nice lady and waited for the interview...

The interview lasted about 3 mins..they just ask how we met etc and what we have to do now that the i-864 isnt up to scratch. Anyway, it's pre-approved so it's only the i-864 and i hopefully will have my visa..

Cheerrrss

I was indeed "Number 3", I was a bit confused as well as I didn't have to pay anything at the Embassy - I asked but was told "your wife will have paid that" so maybe it was covered under the earlier fees I paid to NVC etc?!? Ah well, hopefully once I send in my forms then all will be well - and best of luck with sending in your 1040/I-864!

AFAIK, it's not uncommon at embassies/consulates to ask the ones with appointments to "take number", and then call for interview in an order related neither to the number nor alphabetical (happened with my MTL interview in 1999).

2005/11/07 I-129F approved, forwarded to NVC--to Chennai Consulate 2005/11/14

2006/05/01 AOS Packet (I-485/I-131/I-765) filed at Chicago

2006/08/23 AP and EAD approved. Two down, 1.5 to go

2006/10/13 Pras' I-485 interview--APPROVED!

2006/10/27 Pras' conditional GC arrives -- .5 to go (2 yrs to Conditions Removal)

2008/07/21 I-751 (conditions removal) filed

2008/08/22 I-751 biometrics completed

2009/06/18 I-751 approved
