Hi Everyone,

I have been gathering information for the last few weeks on getting a K1 visa for my girlfriend in Beijing China. I have been using the search function alot looking for answers to individual questions that I have had.. and I must say thanks to everyone who contributes; it is really great to give so much.. even after you have received your K1..

I have two questions (at this moment-maybe more later :( and I sincerely apologize if this question has been address a million times).

1. Regarding her address on the I-129F; she only has a chinese address. I have tried to translate this address to english but its rather difficult to translate the names.. Am I to use her chinese address?

2. My girlfriend had been married for a year prior to me meeting her (for various reasons to complicated to get into here). She split up with her husband in August of last year, but her paperwork wasnt finallized until Jan 24th. My question here is: Does this situation complicate the K1 process?

I really love my girlfriend very much. We talk everyday on skype/phonecards/msn; I am very lucky to know how to speak fluent chinese (my parents primarily spoke chinese; they grew up in taiwan :)). This K1 process looks rather intimidating as I am taking it slow and breaking down the requirements one by one..

Thanks for all your help and support..

Steve C

Steve

I sent my I-129 in using the address in English. Your SO should be able to e-mail you writing it out in English. Also try candlefor lovr.com which is a site for American Chinese relationships with information that is specific for China. I come to both sites and have received valuable information on the process from both sites. We received our visa March 20th after only 152 days.

As long as her divorce was final before you sent in the petition there will be no problems! :)

Hi, Steve:

You have to translate the address into English for the Form of I-129F. But you should write her Chinese Name and Address for Item 16 of the Form.

The requirment is that both of you are free to marry.

Good luck.
