5 Years Restriction???

i arrived in US last year and next christmas will be the first time i will be going out of the US...and i am planning to have a 90 days vacation in the Philippines

Now my friend told me that if i would apply for US Citizenship 5 years from now she said USCIS will deduct all the days that im out of the country from the total of days I should be inside USA to be eligible for citizenship.

i have 2 kids in the philippines and wish to spend longer time with them but now that i heard that news i feel limited of my time to visit philippines

is it true? 5 years minus 90 days meaning im still not eligible if time comes...

Won't be a problem. Just as long as you aren't gone more then 6th months then you do not break your continuous residencey. There is no deduction of time at all. Either you have maintained continual residency or you do not and it gets reset. So on the N-400 just mark down you were gone 3 months and that's all. You will apply at the same time as if you didn't leave for the 3 months...

An applicant is eligible to file if, immediately preceding the filing of the application, he or she:

has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence (see preceding section);

has resided continuously as a lawful permanent resident in the U.S. for at least 5 years prior to filing with no single absence from the United States of more than one year;

has been physically present in the United States for at least 30 months out of the previous five years (absences of more than six months but less than one year shall disrupt the applicant's continuity of residence unless the applicant can establish that he or she did not abandon his or her residence during such period)

has resided within a state or district for at least three months

Ahhh, just the site I was hoping to find. I'm on another immigration board and a lot of people are constantly asking this same type of question. Now I don't have to type out the same stuff all the time, I can just send them to that link.
