Sucessful Interview and POE Review

My baby is finally home after waiting 11 months!!!!

We stayed at La Tour CentreVille and the place is OK...the A/C did not work at all, the room smelled like smoke and the water in the shower would go from warm to scalding. The staff is very friendly and the kitchenette is a nice feature (there is an IGA grocery store a block away). The ease of convenience in relation to the consulate cannot be beat.

We waited at 7:30 AM for the interview on the sidewalk. round 7:45 AM the door flew open and lo and behold we saw the notorious black haired meany. She immediately yelled at the first couple for being to close to the door and ordered all of us to have passports in hand. We had to wait one at a time before entering the guards' area. We had not recieved our new interview letter as the consulate changes out date from May 30th to May 24th but they had us listed on the waiting list (as a side rant we still have not received our "new" letter which they claimed they mailed out). The guard had an issue with my wife's maiden name not matching the interview letter but another guard cleared that up explaining that women's names change to their husbands after getting married.

After being searched and given our ticket for window 9, we went downstairs and waited for the elevator. Immediately, the first couple got yelled at (again) for loitering near the elevator.

Mrs. Meany escorted us up to the 19th floor. We went to 9 and handed the lady our ticket. She instructed us to have a seat in the lobby and wait to be called. After waiting 30 minuted we were called by last name to window 11. We handed the lady all our forms and when she took the police certficate she asked why we did not mail it in. I told her that the instructions did not indicate that we had too (we even called to verify this 8 months before when we were taken off the waiting list because we had not got one). She shook her head negatively and told us to pay at the cashier to which I gave her the court record she forgot to ask for.

The cashier was nice n pretty...no comment.

We headed back to window 11 and Mrs. Arrogant started being nice. She took the xpress post and the receipt and told us where the interview would be held and to have a seat.

We waited about an hour and a half and were called in to room 7. Immediately upon seeing the officer, my wife stopped her nervous breathing. The dude just looked like a nice guy and he was...more so than I expected.

He asked where we met?

He heard of the website and asked more about it (we are both Indian). He was more inquisitive than anything else.

Did we have a religious ceremony or are we going to do that later?

He asked about her denial (very calmly and respectfully)? The man wanted to draw the response by asking indirect questions. You could tell that he really cared about uniting couples.

He told us that there are notes in the file stating how eager we wanted to be united (2 senator from different state inquiries) and that we should have to Visa in a week.

I asked him if he needed the DS230 part 2 and he said no. He then asked us what we were going to do the rest of the day? When my wife told him about the bodyworld exhibit currently in Montreal we sparked another 5 minute conversation.

10 minutes in total!

We got the Visa 2 business days later.

We crossed at the the Queenston-Lewiston bridge as my wife refused to go through the gate of hell Pearson where here lack of land tie refusal occurred.

We waited 1 hour for the activation. The only real thing the old officer who looked like the postman from Cheers said was "You have some issues in your past that are going to haunt you for a while, but I am going to try to clear it up for you." Arrogant #######. He was very profuse about me not being allowed to the counter (which was dumb since I could hear some of the conversation). He had trouble going through the activation since his precious internet guide to K3 activation was down. He kept going in the back to ask his master how to do it. Overall the inpection officers you first and lastly encounter are nice, professional, and can beat you up. They put all the useless ones in immigration. One portly officer kept calling people by there nationality rudely : "Nigeria...Phillipine...Korea".

Thanks to everyone on this site for their continual support and encouragement through this hard and difficult times.

congrats!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
