Vancouver K-3 Info

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions for the folks who have gone through or are in the process of interviewing at Vancouver.

1) Is there a way to get a feel for the content of the checklist (packet 3) that Vancouver sends out? (i have seen the K-1 info in the Embassy info Section)

2) If you had to do it again, what forms and docs would you prepare ahead of time? for packets 3 and 4.

3) Which affidavit of support does Vancouver need? I heard it depends on the consulate (K-1 is I-134. K3?)

4) Has anyone had success getting the medical exam done ahead of time (maybe boefore packet 3 is even sent?)

I know it is still early but i just would like to be prepared and not slow the process down.

2. I had everything already prepared. I received a copy of the checklist from another K3 Vancouver person (cdancer) before I even got my approval notice.

3. Vancouver doesn't need one for K3s. Unless they decided to change their policy... if they do it will be the I-134.

4. I didn't even try. I waited until packet 3 and scheduled one asap.

Thank you so much for the reply and for posting the checklist. This is very nice of you and will with no doubt help us and other folks on VJ.

I will update the Canadian Embassy (vancouver section) with link to your k3 files since it only has K-1.

Regarding the med exam, i heard it might take up to 2-3 weeks to schedule and get results in edmonton. When the case gets transfered to the NVC, they assign a consulate case number (i think). If we call NVC and get the case #, can this be used to schedule the appt?

I'm not sure about the specific doctor in Edmonton. Stacey33 went to that Dr. She should be back tomorrow so maybe see what she says about how long it takes to schedule.

one more quick one..

If I (the USC) would like to go with my spouse, the i need to indicate this somewhere? was not clear on the checklist on pg2 were it talks about coming with minor children..

do we need to tell the consulate or just show up to the interview?

i am assuming it is a good idea for me (the petitioner) to be present at the interview.

The USC petitioner does not need to inform the consulate. My husband came with me and brought his US passport. That's it!

It's not necessary for the USC to be there. They didn't ask him anything except "so what do you do for a living?". They didnt' ask how much $$ he made or anything. It was more of just a conversational question than anything else.

Misa, one more quick one. on the checklist, it says one original and a copy of the birth certificate of each person named in the application is required. Since I (the petitioner) have my name somewhere on the application, do i need to bring one? I do not have one on me and it is a hassle since i was born overseas. But i will have my US passport. thank you

No, the checklist is meant for the beneficiary only. You should bring your passport though so they let you in the consulate!
