I am looking for some assistance here. My fiancee (she is a Canadian citizen) and I (I am a US citizen) plan on getting married in two weeks in Toronto. One website I read states that I need to document to prove my marital status. I am single and I have never been married before. What can I use to show that I am single?

For a marriage LICENSE in Toronto, you don't need proof of marital status:

http://www.toronto.ca/registry-services/marriage.htm

https://www.gov.on.ca/ont/portal/!ut/p/...en?docid=012199

For immigration purposes if you're filing for a spouse, you'd need the marriage certificate (not the license) and any divorce decrees from previous marriages if applicable.

No problem. Have a nice wedding and I assume we'll be seeing you back on these forums after that. :)

Hi i don't think there is any document that proves your single...all you have to do is fill up all the necessary paper and USCIS will do it's background check on. if you have never been married your records will show. just enter you marital status as single on all the paperworker you are filing for your fiance.

goodluck
