10 year green card???

I have been trying to find some info in the 10 year green card... My question is, after the ten years goes by, do you have to get another one???

If you decide not to become a citizen, and stay a permanent resident, then yes, after the ten years are up you will have to renew your card.

I think that after about 3 years of being a permanent resident, you're eligible to apply for citizenship. I assume that most people do that before the 10 years is up, so they become a U.S. citizen and no longer need the Green Card. I am not sure though!

You don't have to, but if you want to be able to prove that you're a legal resident of the USA (for example to re-enter the USA), then you should renew it.

I think that after about 3 years of being a permanent resident, you're eligible to apply for citizenship. I assume that most people do that before the 10 years is up, so they become a U.S. citizen and no longer need the Green Card. I am not sure though!

I think that is a pretty big assumption on your part. I don't know the numbers overall, but I know a lot of people with Green Cards who have no plans to become citizens.

It should be noted in this thread that even if a person's 10 year Green Card expires, they still remain legal permenant residents of the USA. Also as they have normal SS cards, they don't need to show their Green Card to be employed.

Renew the card by filing I-90 either by mail or on line. FEE is currently $260 to renew it.
