I need to pick up a "Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage" at the USA embassy in Manila.But I need to do it in between flights because my destination isnt Manila,I'm just passing through. I'm just worried that they wont allow me on the embassy with my bags? I dont know where I could keep them until I get my certificate if they wont allow me in. I heard that the airport wont let me hold them there.Can someone please give me some advice? I also need to know how to get to the embassy from Manila airport. Can I just get a taxi from the airport and would the driver wait for me until I go to the embassy and get my certificate? and how much do you you think a taxi ride would cost? Is there a bus that runs from the embassy to the airport? I leave Tuesday and I'm really worried about this. So I hope someone can offer some advice soon.

I don't know about doing it between flights, it is about an hour ride from the airport to the embassy depending on traffic, then a couple of hours at the embassy to get the certificate processed. Also when I was there they ONLY do 'Legal Capacity' for only about two hours in the mornings.

I hired a driver and paid him to wait until I got my paperwork finished. The only bad thing now is you cannot take your cell phone with you, so you had better be sure the driver is going to stick around! When I went, they let you check your cell phone at the guard station and pick it back up on the way out.

I had to overnight in Manila anyway before heading on to CDO so I used a driver who worked with the hotel I stayed at, so I didn't have to worry about my bags, but I felt better knowing I had my ride back to the hotel/airport already arranged.

I can't remember for sure, but I think it was around P2,000 for him to take me to the embassy, wait the couple of hours for me to get done and take me back to the hotel to grab my bags and on to the airport.

Also be sure and check on the hours the window is open at the embassy. When I went it was only open from 8:00am to 10:00am so you had better plan on getting there EARLY to get your paperwork done. And check on local holidays as well to be sure they will be open when you are there!

If your destination to Cebu City i suggest you, to get your legal capacity there. Upon my hubby's arrival we proceed to Consular Office log in cause it is a first come first serve basis. Be sure somebody will meet u at airport @ airport your fiancee and other person to watch your things while u and your fiancee enter @ consular office. Leave your electronic devices @ the personnel assigned to for this.

if youre a US citizen, they will be more lenient with you... you can leave ur stuff i think in the USEM... u can just explain to them your situation... anyways, USC always have the good priviledges at the USEM... im pretty sure u can leave ur fones and stuff at the guard area..

or you can get a room at bayview hotel (just right accross the embassy) so you can leave your stuff... the embassy is always busy and im not sure what time will you be arriving from the US and by the time you'll be done at the embassy... considering all the traffic and crowds and flights available to your final destination... i wish you luck! and God bless!!!
