Rocks

My husband loves to build things out of rocks. There are lots of them in Palestine. Fortunately, South Texas is kind of similar to the West Bank, with plenty of rocks. You don't even have to dig -- there are lots of them sitting right on top of the ground. So he picks them up on the side of the highway and hauls them home. Then he plays with them.

So far he's built a two-level pond and several raised flower beds, and is now completing steps and a stone walkway winding between them. It's not quite finished yet -- he is still finishing the walk, and we have some more work to do around the ponds to hide the pond liner, plumbing, electric, etc.... but you get the basic idea.

While he messes around with rocks, I like to mess around in the garden....

very very nice, i have to admit that is one of the first things away from the airport in Casa i had to ask whyyyyyyy all these rocks, they are everywhere... and he is doing very good job

In the house we lived in before this one we had a guy across the street who actually belonged to a pond club. They would meet monthly talking about the liners/lights/type of fish, etc. and at the end of the summer season they would give an award to the person with the best manmade pond. His was wicked awesome but didn't win an award. I'd see tons of cars at his house every so often from people who would just go and look at it. At night it was soooo nice to sit in his backyard and watch the coy swim with the lights illuminating the pond. I always wanted one in the backyard myself but I haven't got that kind of time to do it. One time he found this HUGE bird in his backyard...I forget what it was but it looked like a pelican. He was eating the coy out of his pond. lol

Your backyard is awesome!!! Gives me lots of ideas. Thanks for sharing. I had a beautiful little pond at my other house about the size of yours. The people that bought our house filled it in. I wish I could have just transferred it to our new place.
