completing I-129F & G-325A

Thanks to all who replied to my last post regarding visiting the US once the I-129F has been filed.

Next question is...what family name do I use on the I-129F and the G-325A! I'm divorced and on the I-129F it asks for family name which I assume is the name I am currently using (ie., former married name) since Q. 7 asks for maiden name. The G-325A however asks for family name which I assume is my maiden name since it then asks for all other names used (including names by previous marriages). All that being said I'm not sure what family name I should be using...should it be the same on both forms...maiden family name of current family name??? :help:

Also whilst I am a UK Citizen my country of birth is Scotland...so do I useScotland, UK or just Scotland or just UK? I know when I visit the USA it is the UK that goes on the green immigration form...but for these forms I'm not sure.

Perhaps I'm being too cautious here but I just want to get things right from the word go!

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Marianne

As far as your name goes, "family name" is referring to your current last name. G325A is a bio sheet, which is why it asks for all names. Regardless, family name is your current, legal name. Sorry I can't help with the rest.

Marianne,

Be consistent on both forms. Where it asks first for your family name give the surname that you are currently using. Where it subsequently asks for other names used give any surnames that you have used in the past but are not using currently be they maiden name or past 'married' names.

The parenthetical notes are intended to guide people with suggestions, but such notes cannot be exhaustive and are not intended to provide definitive examples covering all situations. Some married women revert to their maiden name after divorce, others (like you) continue to use their ex-husband's surname. One twice-divorced woman I know reverted to her first ex's surname rather than continue with her most recent surname or go back to her maiden name.

It is quite helpful if you have Passport and ID in whatever legal name you are now using. If not, you'll need to get them.
