I couldn't help myself...

So after all the speediness of my NOA2 after the RFE, and the Packet 3 one day later...no Packet 4. NO PACKET 4!!! :crying: Every day I come home, expecting a letter telling me when we're expected down in Grosvenor Square, but alas, nothing. Not a scrap. I am starting to become obsessed with this and driving Bruce gaga with talk of "what if something's gone wrong?" "what if what if what if", to the point where I have had to swear on my sainted grandmother's life that I will not utter the phrase "Packet 4" in front of him until it actually arrives.

I came home before him tonight (still nothing) and I couldn't help myself...I called the Embassy Extortion line to see if there was anything, ANYTHING at all. Surprise, surprise. No date assigned yet, but I was told that perhaps having moved the date of the medical back a week would speed things up, and in any event I'll have a date in 2 weeks. I know they know b******s up there in the Frozen North about our cases, and that they would give me a timeframe that had no relation to reality, but I had to do it.

I want my Packet 4 and I want it NOW!!! :girlwerewolf2xn:

I know! Total waste of money. I have clearly gone insane. Next time I feel the urge to call the Extortion Line I will have a glass of wine and maybe a Valium too...I need to be stopped!

That is SO weird to me. They didn't know when Chas' medical was when he returned packet 3 (he just ticked the box that he had made the appt) - and yet they turned around packet 4 in 2 days. So I don't see how the two are connected at all.

Though perhaps maybe its different for CR1s than K1s?

Well, by phoning them at least you have paid the postage for all your P4 stuff when it eventually gets sent out! :P

Seriously though, hope you get it soon; I'll have everything crossed for you that I am physically able to cross. That's including my eyes, which does prove difficult whilst walking down the street, ;)

Don't hurt yourself with all that crossing!!!

Tracy -- I have no idea how they think changing the medical date will make anything faster, but I DO think they will say just about anything to shut up worrywarts like me who keep begging for a date! "Sure lady, the medical will speed it up. Now stop bothering me so I can get back to playing Minesweeper on this here computer!"

I don't think it has anything to to do with being a K1 or a CR1, but now I'm obsessing that because I made a little boo-boo on the DS-230 (even though I checked it six times I still made a goof and ticked two boxes under marital status -- single AND married, way to go me!) someone at the Embassy needs to spend a few weeks puzzling over how someone could be married and yet single... The dude on the line last night said everything was in order and I was due to hear any day now, but at this point I have developed full-blown paranoia and don't believe a word they tell me. Nope.

And it still hasn't arrived!!! :ranting:

Just got home and there was an SMS card for Bruce... has anyone ever heard of them delivering a P4 via SMS???

More likely it's his credit card, or maybe a creditor (oh dear). Awful day in other regards -- his university asked him to cough up £1300 by the 17th or he is suspended from his PhD as we kept cancelling the direct debit and we would pay via cheque instead. Somehow, even though they are paid like clockwork, it's not good enough. Un-effin-believable, especially as he is a third of the way through writing up now, so close to nearing his doctorate we can practically smell it. So instead of fixing the car we ante up for the University.

Raaar! I shall return to watching Holby City and grumbling now. Thanks to everyone for the crossing of appendages and kind words. I'm just so anxious because I have a potential job interview in Connecticut on the 18th of June and I want to be here for Bruce's big day at the Embassy, and that looks like a likely interview date...in my dreams!

Re Holby City...when did Nigel from Eastenders join the cast???

Okay, I know I said I wouldn't do anything more on chasing down my P4....but curiosity got the better of me. I called the DOS in Washington from work so I didn't have to pay for it (tee hee :P ) and I think I understand a little bit more now. For some reason, although the P3 was sent Special Delivery 9am and was confirmed as delivered on 27 April, no one at the Embassy even opened it until nearly a week later -- 3 May. I seem to recall reading threads a month or two back about the "PO Box of Doom"...and I think I may have fallen into it.

But hey! I'm in the system now, and even if I don't know why others are getting interviews before me even though they sent back P3 after me I will take it in stride. (Let's see how long I can keep this attitude up before I break down and call the DOS again! )
