Hey people,

My fiance has her interview very soon , but was hoping to back to Russia to visit her family after the wedding. We thought about having a small reception there with her family and friends that may not be able to get over here. How soon after we are married will she be allowed to travel out of the country?

The K-1 visa allows a fiancé(e) to enter the United States one time only. If you leave the United States after entering on a K-1 visa, you may not re-enter on the same visa. ...and one can apply for I-131 Advance parole -AP- only after (or at the same time as) filing I-485 to adjust status. So, after the marriage, she'll need to get marriage certificate and collect some other documents for AOS... It takes a few months for AP to be approved... so you are looking in at least 3 months from a wedding day before she can travel...

More like 3 months AFTER you apply for your AOS, which will be after your wedding.

One entry into the US to use/activate the K1 visa. If you leave the United States after entering on a K-1 visa, you may not re-enter on the same visa - that's why people apply for advance parole when they need to travel internationally before they have received their green card.

The US doesn't require visas in order to fly within the US domestically or in order to fly to US territories! (Have you ever seen someone having to show a visa to fly from say New York to LA? No!) But don't plan a honeymoon outside of the US or US territories without having advance parole or she will not get back into the country.
