Hello, everybody! I am new in this forum as I have found this website recently. That is a very good one, indeed. Thanks for everyone. My question is : in I-129F form Question 20 they ask where fiance(e) will apply for a visa. I am from Lithuania. And though we have American Embassy here , but from other forums I know that everybody for K-1 visas goes to Poland. So, should we fill in in question 20: Poland/Warsaw, or Lithuania/Vilnius ( and then they will transfer the documents to Poland)? I couldn't find that info anywhere else so I would appreciate anyone's advice. Thanks a lot in advance.

We have just started filling in the forms and are at the very beginning of a long way ahead.

Good luck to everybody here ;)

I can't say what conulate you would use, but if you're Lithuanian, I would guess you send it there. NCV will know where to send it. Case in point: We put Toronto on our application since that was the closest consulate. We later found out Montreal and Vancover were the only consulates in Canada that do K visas. NVC knew this and sent it to Montreal. It wouldn't hurt to call USCIS or NVC to make sure.

Vilnius may have an American Embassy, but it is not the Embassy that processes visas, rather the Consulate...which is usually attached to Embassies. For the purposes of K-1, fiancee visas, I think Warsaw is the closest consulate that processes those types of visas. The K-1, even though it is not an immigrant type visa, it is processed as such by the consulates. Perhaps the US Consulate in Vilnius does not process immigrant type visas. You may want to check out their web site for more info:

http://www.usembassy.lt/ConsImmigrant.asp

The "fiance visa" link is broken on their website....but it looks like the process K-3/K-4's not sure why they wouldn't do K1/K2's. Perhaps someone else can offer more info.

Thanks for advice you gave. Yes that link on the website of US embassy for fiance(e) visa doesn't work for quite a time, so I couldn't read and find out what the details are. I will probably try to call them and ask as we want to put correct info on that petition and of course to avoid REF.

sunnylight,

The web page that -P give the link for clearly says that the embassy in Vilnius has an Immigrant Visa Unit. The K visas are processed by IVUs.

You would not get an RFE for naming an incorrect consulate. If the USCIS does not correct the error then the NVC will. Or ultimately the consulate that the approved petition arrives at will.

For the longest time, Kiev's IV unit did not process K-1/2/3/4 as they were all done in Warsaw. When the transition began the IV unit only initially took on K-1/2. The final piece to come a year or so later was K-3/4. This is one reason that even a functioning IV unit may not even do "K" visas.... however, this may not even remotely apply to the OP's situation....

YMMV

Hello to 'debeselizz' !!! :) I am very happy to see someone from Lithuania here as, I guess, it doesn't happen that often ... Thanks for your advice. I am sure that they don't process this type of visa here, however, I wasn't sure if it is ok if we put straight Warsaw/Poland ( we haven't sent out the papers yet but are looking forward for the day we can do that) in the 129F petition form.

By the way, only now I viewed your pictures, you both look gorgeous!!!

Good luck ! & see you :)
