chip and pin on credit cards?

As I recall, the few times I got #######, it was ended when I was able to show them my Cali Driver's License because it has my signature on it, which could be matched to the card I was trying to use, which seemed to satisfy the security concerns that a chip and pin magically make disappear.

yea - he tried that. Some places said that they didnt have the system to take anything but chip and pin!!

I've had some stores get pissy with me for the lack of chip and pin, but I try to stay calm to explain it's not like I'm being lazy in not getting one - we just aren't quite there yet!

Side note: many US banks are related to or have agreements with overseas banks, which can be useful for withdrawing money from ATMs (far, far cheaper than using an exchange place that rips you off). For example, Bank of America customers can access Barclay's ATMs for no extra charge (aside from the small conversion fee, which is still cheaper than an exchange).

I've never come across an ATM (I've used a lot) in England that charged me to use it.

I always had problems using my American cards in the Post Office...they told me they could only take cards with chip.
