When your fiance(e) has their interview, you will need the affadavit of support. You must make 125% above the poverty line for your household size. This can be found by going here: http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/07poverty.shtml and multiplying by 1.25.

For a household size of two, you need to earn $17,112. You'll need supporting materials that prove you make this amount, but it's mostly important for the adjustment of status once your fiance(e) moves to America and after you're married.

I-129F

Pretty much I wanted to know how much should I, petioner, have on my bank account for the Affidavit of support be Approved. i.e some people might have $5k and some $25k... will the $5k be questioned like saying NOT ENOUGH? And one other question, after receiving packet 3, how long does it take for schedule an interview (average time).

Thanks

Giovanny

If you read the instructions on the Affidavit of Suppor form, it says that if you want you can use your assets (Bank account) to meet the requirement the ammount must be equal at least five times the difference between your total household income and minimum income requirement. In this case, you have to prive bank statements covering the last 12 months, including deposit/whitdrawal history, and the current balance.

For what I understand, if you meet the sponsor's income requirement there's no need to present this "Evidence of assets".

Hope this helps :)

Giovanny,

Ahh - you're the petitioner. Important information to know.

You don't need any money in the bank if you have adequate income. Is you current annualized income well above the 2007 poverty level guideline for the number of people you have to support, including your fiancee?

eric_and_theresa,

Wrong affidavit to be reading - Giovanny's is a K1 case, I-864 does not apply.

(And for cases where I-864 does apply, and the person being sponsored is a spouse, it's 3x not 5x.)

we are out united states both of us me the benifeciarry nad her the petioner , how much for example we need at the bank and what asset we need , does proberty is asset too

You have to do the math, we don't know how much your assets are worth, neither your household income, unless you give us the numbers, I suggest you read the instructions on the form first.

You can calculate how much money you need in the bank or in cash value of other assets, doing this:

(Annual Income Requirement - Annual Household) x 5 = Amount of money you need to have in the bank.

You need to provide evidence of location and ownership of any asset, and prove the cash value of each asset.
