Manila - I-134 and Co-Sponsor Info

I just paid for the expensive call center support in Manila. I asked "Can I use a co-sponsor on a K3 Visa?"

I explained that I am a full time college-student with a part-time job and that I can not support the person I applied for alone. That I wanted to use my mom as a co-sponsor to show that we had enough money to exceed the poverty guide lines. (which my mom does alone, by far)

The answer I got was no, you can't have a co-sponsor, but you can use other people to help prove your financial resources.

She was confusing to me, but I pushed for information and answers for awhile. This is what I got.

---

I wanted to know if I would just have my mom fill out an additional I-134 and she said it would not be considered for the application, that only mine would, so that is not necessary.

She also said that what I need to do is this. Attach a letter to my I-134 stating that I receive support from my parents, like free room and board, and that the same support is extended to the applicant. Also attach all the same financial documents for that person that the I-134 asks for. (bank statement, employment letter, tax records)

She said as long as I show I am getting additional support from my mom, and her support exceeds the poverty guide lines, than I am fine.

Now it does not make sense that they don't accept an official co-sponsor form but yet they take this kind of attached letter and proof.

So what should I do to be on the safe side?

a. Fill out two separate I-134's anyways.. including all the required financial documents for both of us.

b. Just submit mine, and attach the letter and required stuff she told me about in the phone call.

c. Do both of those, and also do an I-834 & A.. just to be on the safe side for everything.

d. Do all of A B and C and if we fail, just wait for CR1 interview where there is official form for co-sponsor?

I read a lot of threads about people and co-sponsor and stuff for the K3, but no solid info.

Anybody have any personal experience with this, or suggestions on what I should do?

It's hard to get a K visa approved by Manila Embassy if petitioner is using a co-sponsor. Manila has a high denial rate for insuffient income even when using co-sponsors. But who knows, you might get lucky with them. Everyone's circumstances are different and the embassy evaluates petitions on a case-to-case basis.

It seems you have thought out all your options which shows a brilliant mind. The best option under the circumstances, in my opinion, is "D".

d. Do all of A B and C and if we fail, just wait for CR1 interview where there is official form for co-sponsor?

I would also suggest you plan to attend the interview. The COs tend to be more willing to listen to the USC than they are the beneficiaries. My wife and I had originally planned on doing exactly what you have mentioned, all of the above that is. But do to other circumstances we ended up just going the CR-1 route. Good luck, you are treading on new ground for all of us.
