Hello everyone! I was hoping somebody could help me with my question. I finally have got our interview date at the embassy here in Bogota, Colombia next week and was wondering if my affidavid of support needs to be notarized? I currently have a co sponser just in case and i had them notarize the affidavid but does mine have to be notarized as well? If it does need to be notarized how can this be done if I am here in Colombia? Also, does the letter of intent need to be notarized?

I appreciate your help!

Yes, get a couple notarized I-134s. The letter of intent does not need to be. Good luck.

The USC Sponsor must have their Affidavit of Support notarized by a US Notary Public.

If the USC is abroad, they may have this notarization done at the US Consulate at no charge.

The USC Sponsor must have their Affidavit of Support notarized by a US Notary Public.

If the USC is abroad, they may have this notarization done at the US Consulate at no charge.

The Affidavit instructions located at http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/files/i-134.pdf say in page 3

"If you are outside the United States, the affidavit

must be sworn to or affirmed before a U.S.

consular or immigration officer"

"If you are in the United States, the affidavit may be

sworn to or affirmed before an officer of the

Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services

(CIS) without the payment of fee, or before a

notary public or other officers authorized to

administer oaths for general purposes, in which

case the official seal or certificate of authority to

administer oaths must be affixed."

Hi Juan Pablo,

Ditto to the last two posters. If you are going to the interview with your fiancée you do not have to have it notarized because you will sign it in front of the Consulate Officer, this is better than notarizing it. But if you do not attend the interview you must have it notarized, if not they would not be sure it is your signature that is what a notarization is. Very good that the co-sponsor I-134 is notarized in case you have to use it.

Good luck,

It does not matter who the affidavit is from... If the document requres notarization, it requires notarization... If it does not, then it does not...

I-134 DOES

I-864 DOES NOT

YMMV
