I hope someone can help me with this issue. I just filed I-129F for K3 Visa for my wife in India. I had put down Mumbai, India as the Embassy or Consulate where my wife will apply for visa. Has anyone ever dealt w/ Mumbai Embassy? Is that correct embassy for K3 Visa in India? Thank you for your help in advance.

Aug 09, 2007 - NVC Received Package from CIS

Aug 20, 2007 - Generated DS 3032 and AOS Bill

Aug 21, 2007 - Emailed DS 3032 to NVC (Used James Shortcut)

Aug 22, 2007 - Sent AOS Bill overnight (Used James Shortcut)

Aug 28, 2007 - NVC Received AOS Bill (Automated Voice message)

October 15, 2007 - NVC Received AOS and DS-230 Forms

October 24, 2007 - CASE Complete

November 2, 2007 - Case at Embassy

January 10, 2008 - Interview Date

January 10, 2008 - VISA APPROVED

Jay,

I'm going through the Mumbai consulate. The question of whether this is the correct embassy or not depends on where in India your wife currently resides.

At a high level, all "Northern" parts of India are services by Delhi consulate. Western states are serviced by Mumbai. Southern states are serviced by Chennai and Eastern states are serviced by Kolkota.

My wife is from the State of Gujarat, for which Mumbai is the consulate.

01/13/07 - ASO I864-EZ application sent to NVC priority mail (3 day delivery)

01/18/07 - DS230 sent to NVC - overnight delivery by USPS

01/26/07 - DS230 finally received 11 days after it was generated.. can anyone say snail mail..

03/03/07 - Case received at Mumbai Embassy

05/22/07 - Medical Interview Breach Candy Mumbai

05/24/07 - Interview date at Mumbai consulate - APPROVED!

06/02/07 - Mumbai - Paris - Atlanta - Charlotte. Departs June 1st 4.45am EST Arrives June 2nd 4.12pm EST

07/10/07 - Received Conditional Greencard. Still waiting on the SSN

Thanks for your reply. You have pretty much answered my question. My wife is also from State of Gujarat. I was look at the K3 timeline and i didn't see any stats for K3 Visa at Mumbai Consulate. So, i was little curious. how long do you think it will take the file to complete the process and get the interview date? Thanks again.

There is only 1 US embassy in India it is in New Delhi, all other locations are Consulates. Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai is are consulates.

The embassy in any country is always in the capital city, other locations are always consulates.
