You can reschedule your interview. The interview letter should detail how to reschedule, or you can set up an info pass at your local field office and talk to them about it.  Don't worry though, lots of people end up rescheduling for these kind of reasons.

Here is a sample interview letter I found on the web. It's from 2010 but I don't think the wording has changed at all. Read the end of first paragraph on rescheduling instructions. In your case, your field office's address will be on the bottom.

Echoing the same responses - you can absolutely reschedule.

My husband rescheduled his with no problems - just follow the instructions on the interview letter you received. My husband had to write a letter explaining why (he's a grad student and was in the middle of finals/his research thesis, etc. and no way he could take time to go to the interview). They rescheduled him for a month and half later.

My husband's was rescheduled for a month and a half later (originally scheduled April 18th and new interview date, which he attended, was May 31st). I think it all depends on how busy/full your office is on when they can reschedule the interviews.

Blah! Idiots....Sorry to hear they screwed up your first request despite the fact that your husband went to the office and formally requested re-scheduling in person. They would fix the issue but I am afraid your husband would need to make another infopass. I wouldn't try to fix the issue by mail. Tell him to bring the tickets/trip itineraries again and also the proof of your first request. Keep us posted how it goes.

Have you done any infopass since last you wrote on July 25th? If so, what did they say?

At this point, I'd also seek assistance from the congressperson on this issue. For NY, a VJer recently reported Sen. Gillibrand's office was prompt in response. perhaps contact her office with this issue.

No did not visit the office since we came back.we called them and spoke to the Uscis officer.and first he said that it does not show in the record that you requested for the reschedule interview and also he could not see any documents which we provided to the office when we went on vacation thoses documents was written letter explaning that why we are going on vacation.then tickets copy  and interview letter.after putting us on hold for 15 minutes he came back and said yeah now found your request and letter and stuff which we submitted before one month of the interview.then we also told him that we called uscis from our country when we received the notice that we missed the interview.and at the end he said you guys did possibly did everything that you could do like we called them.from other country and stuff.thn he said I will send us a notice.and after a week notice came which said that his case is administratively closed and we can reopen it within a year so we have to write  request letter which I did on Oct 5.and till then now still waiting for their reply :(  today I called the gillbrand office and left a message.my husband was ready to skip the vacation but I was not I did not know that uscis gonna make it so complicated.

I am sorry I have had a very difficult time to read your whole passage. I am not being rude, for us to understand you better, please use your "periods and commas" correctly.

Yeah, sometimes it is critical that applicants should not modify their appointment for any reason if it was not so emergency.

Now I guess, be patient to wait for the response from USCIS.
