I have a quick question.

My fiancé and I filed our K1 (I-129F) application in February. I check on the USCIS site weekly, and it posts that the California Service Center is just now processing applications from September of 2006.

However, February filers who's applications went to Vermont tell us that their applications are already being processed and forwarded to the embassies.

Although, on the USCIS website, the Vermont most recent processing dates for K1 visas is ALSO September of 2006.

Does anyone have an explainer on this one?

Should I even bother looking on the USCIS website for schedule updates?

Thanks much,

Max

Pretty much everyone who's been here more than a week can explain :) The USCIS stats on that processing times page are the outer edges of processing times - the apps bring up the rear, as it were. Actual average processing time is around 2.9 months (around 90 days for TX, NE, and CA service center filers; and about 5 - 10 minutes for Vermont SC filers, it seems). You can keep checking the USCIS site - but it may be more helpful to track things here on VJ (know that it's all user generated data and not a guarantee).

Go to the top of this page and click on "Immigration timelines" and the K1 link. Learn what you can from around here and it should help you make an educated guess - as will filling out your timeline here. Fwaguy and other members work REALLY HARD to compile data to help us not lose our minds quite so fast.

Good luck!

I would recommend a timeline search here on VJ to find people in your particular timeframe to compare who has their NOA-2 .. the timelines here are much more accurate than the ones on the USCIS website
