They didnt tell us when it will be done but i know it will sometime in the next year, while im in the middle of the K-1 process.. any suggestions? what should I do? I dont want to wait for them to finaly do it, that will take forever.

When the time comes to change your address....call 1800 375 5283 if your petition is still at service center.

Okay, My dad emailed me from the states saying he had contacted the county planning office and the address change wont take place til next fall.. by then hopefully we will be scheduling our interview and all.. is this gonna be a huge problem if its that late in the process?

Just wanted to keep this thread alive at the top since i dont have any answers yet. Just hoping for someone who may have experienced this. What if they change my address just before my interview or something like that? Would i need to fill everything out again or would it delay everything?

I can't imagine that it would be a huge issue at the interview stage...........I would assume that you would just have to put the new address on the paperwork. At whatever stage in the process you decide to move-just let the government know. Aussie gave you a ## call if you need it(as she mentioned-if it is still at a service center)

maybe someone else can respond? I am sure people move all of the time-shouldn't be a huge problem

what if I move but my family stays in the same address, I can just have them receive my correspondence, right? that way I dont have to go thru a delay in the process.

They did that to the rural addresses where I lived about a year ago. They changed the addresses as well as the postal (ZIP) codes. While everyone was supposed to use the new addresses, people continued to (and still continue to) receive mail sent to the old addresses now.

Paul,

Is this a US address you are talking about or the address abroad in country of interview? If its the US address it is not going to delay anything at Consulate stage. If its the applicant/beneficiary address then you would need to let the consulate know or there would be a delay if mail didnt get delivered because of the change in address. Outside of that.....one must always keep USCIS updated on any changes in either the sponsors or aliens (once in the US) address.

If the petition is still in NVC hands you can email the address change to nvcinquiry@state.gov

Make sure you put the NOA receipt number of NVC case number in the subject line. We got a response the next day.

Here is an example of what we used for an address change........

1. Regarding the subject case number/CIS receipt number (whichever you are using) the following information applies:

a. Beneficiary name: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx - DOB: xx/xx/xxxx

b. Petitioner name: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx- DOB: xx/xx/xxxx

2. I am requesting that Petitioner address be changed to reflect the

following:

Name

New Address

Thank you
