I am engaged to be married to a filipina, and a friend of mine was interested in meeting a filipina as well until another friend of his came to dinner with his russian wife .. everything has changed.

Please send me private messages if you have any suggestions for legitimate dating websites where he can meet russian women; even if they are not russian, at least that part of the world.

Thanks,

CB

maybe he can ask his friend with the russian wife how and where they met, or maybe they know somebody back in russia to introduce to him to avoid scam.

You could check out this forum on the RWGuide: http://www.rwguide.com/forums/forum.cfm?forum=23

Generally speaking that site has good information about which dating sites are scams and which are good.

One thing though CountryBoy, your friend should beware because Russian women are very addicting! Once a man dates a Russian woman, he is hooked for life and it's unlikely he will ever want to date a non-Russian woman again. B)

The best site that I would recommend is Elena's Models. It is where I met my fiancee and I think more people have met their S/O there than any place going. Other legitimate ones are Kerson Girls, Lifetime partners, first Dream, kiev Connections and more.

Stay totally away from Army of Brides, Global ladies, E-700 and Hot Russian Brides. Avoid Lugansk which is the scammer capitol of the world. Yoksur-Ola is also best avoided.

12/14/2006 Applied for K-1 with request for Waver for Multiple filings within 2 years.

They do set the bar rather high. I can say personally speaking, they are the standard that I judge all other women by, including Filipinas. (There are some smokin-hot Filipinas out there too. And talk about taking care of a brother.... I love me some lumpias!) For me, it comes down to simple percentages. There is an exponentially higher number of gorgeous women in Russia/CIS than any other country/group etc., that I've seen. (And don't forget, I lived in Asia for two years. I love those women too, but for my money, I'm still screamin Red Team Go!!!)

OK. All that aside, one of the websites I've seen that is amazing for all women around the world (something like 50,000 women on it from all over; Russia, Ukraine, etc., Philippines, Thailand, etc., Columbia, Brazil, etc.,) is:

http://www.loveme.com

This site is an introduction/tour service that sells tours to your desired destination and sets up social events where you can interact with the beauties you've "added to cart". Well, you don't exactly add them to your cart, but if you're in the "mail-order bride" business, which is what your friend is going to be in (like it or not, we all know it's not technically "shopping" for a bride, but everyone else is going to label it as such. So, better to save your breath for talking to your sweety than trying to explain something to ignorant people.) he's going to have to find several to talk to, then narrow it down to an even lesser few. Although I can't recommend this site for actual "shopping" purposes, it is a good site to get a general description of how the process works, what's possible over the Internet, and what's available, as far as "wife" material. With so many women on there, I'm sure he'll look at this site for several hours the first day. (I know I did. I still can't believe there are literally THOUSANDS of gorgeous women that want to marry fat, bald guys.) I knew several girls on this site, and their profiles were very accurate and truthful. (Not to mention they were also very sexy!)

If he's got the money, this would be the way to go. You've gotta go meet your sweety once anyway, so if he can afford several grand, this is an awesome site. If he's more like me, and several grand would take several years to save up, this site would be good for "research" purposes, then better to move on to a more common site like some of those listed above, or even some of the more popular sites like Yahoo personals or even MySpace.com. (Search for Russia, send a message to a Russian woman.... just like you would to any other woman!)

If you google "russian brides" you're going to get the phone book. There are hundreds of sites out there just for this purpose. Take a little time, do a little research, and learn/do everything you can FOR FREE before you pay money to anyone. I would recommend checking some of the Russian sites as well. The larger sites like Mail.ru all have links for personal adds on them, and you can google.ru also. There are so many resources out there, you couldn't possibly check them all. It is probably possible to see just about every woman from the former USSR on one of these sites or another.

Now, the big thing with avoiding scams is this:

When you read a profile description and it says, "looking for loving man 18-80 from a Western country" that should be a big red flag. Also, when it says "I speak no English" that may also let you know that even though she wants a man from a Western country, she isn't really too concerned about speaking to him. Don't get me wrong, there are a whole bunch of girls out there looking for a good man and just haven't learned English yet, all I'm saying here is there are women that are willing to marry anyone as long as they get that free trip across the pond.

AND RULE NUMBER 1: It should be about her willingness to love the guy... not her willingness to uproot and come to America. My #1 question that I'll say to any of these guys that have "found the one" on their favorite website, "did you offer to move there to be with her, or did you only say that she could move here to be with you?" She may be willing to come here to be with your buddy, leave everything, kids, job, life, all behind, just to come here "to be with him." But, is she so willing for him to go there to be with her?

Keep that in mind, and also try to remember that it should be almost like it would be with any other relationship. If there's a push to "hurry up" that's never a good sign. The pressure shouldn't be on hastening her arrival to America, it should be on hastening their happiness together forever.

So, it's more an individual thing, than a website thing. Like Turboguy mentioned though, there are sites that are straight-up scam sites. Avoid those like the plague. Also, tell your buddy to get a username here on VJ and start hanging out in the Russia forum. He'll probably learn more there than he will anywhere else.

And last but not least...... Tell him not to discriminate. If he was looking for a Filipina before, tell him to keep looking there too! There are beautiful women from all over the world. There's nothing wrong with corresponding with one from the PI, one from Ukraine, one from Columbia, and even one from across town on Match.com. Go for it!!!

Good luck buddy! Look forward to hearing from you soon!

My fiance and I met on Emode.com (now Tickle.com I think) where we both originally went to get our IQ tests. :) On that site, you can filter out people based on their country of origin. But I used other parameters which I suspect are more important in the long run.

Just curious; what were the other parameters?

Move there. Study Russian in Moscow for a year. You will meet plenty of people. They will have real careers. You will know that they are interested in you, not in getting a green card. You will actually understand the language and culture of who you are marrying. You will know their friends.

Try here (they will even provide cheap accomodation ): http://www.msu.ru/en/ Knowing that you studied here will instantly impress almost everyone in Russia.
