:lol::lol::lol: yes mike is/was 24...he will be 25....but more like going on 5.....here is a good example...last night whinning that he doesn't have everything he wants...he wants this and that...and wants someone who can buy him whatever he wants...blah blah blah keeping ME up till 12 am...complaning...singing just being a jerk...and then like a little child asks me if i am mad at him when we got up....it just never ends

Well good Lord does he have a job? Does he say these things cause he expects you to buy them for him. I find this to be a Jamaican trait. LOL. I thik it comes from the misperception of how much money American make or have.

Yes as well as Craig. He does the same thing, but not to that extent. Before Craig went to Philly last week, he whined that he didn't have ANY clothes (meanwhile, he has a TON) !!! but...ya know, not "name bran sh&t"....so he kept saying, so are you going to buy me something? and I'm like, um....NO....you have a job, budget yourself to go and BUY some stuff. We went to Walmart and I did get him a $5.93 shirt! He picked it out and he LOVES the shirt, but I was not going to buy him shoes, pants, etc etc. OH HECK NO !!!

Mike is a picky booger when it comes to clothes !!! Craig was to for about the first 2 months, then he started working (at a football warehouse) and saw HOW expensive clothes really were! So when I brought home 97 cent shirts (about 10 of them) with the price tags of the original price still on them, marked down....he was SHOCKED !!!!

I LOOOOOVE Old Navy ....... :yes: that goes out to you kelly :D

Damien is a "label ho" but I don't have a problem with it because he buys it with HIS money. He doesn't waste money, pays bills on time, takes me out on dates, buys my daughter and I stuff all the time so I can't complain. He'll ask my opinion before he buys something expensive....no, I don't understand it but he deserves it. He works at least 30 hours overtime every pay period. He'll buy himself something nice every 3 months or so.

I'm glad Mike is very mature and not into labels. Those things cost a fortune. Imagine making these people whose names are on these items richer. Riduculous. I but them but at Marshall's, Ross and such. :thumbs::thumbs:

Speaking of when and how we met, we haven't compared stories in a long while. How did you ladies meet your boyfriend/fiance/husband? How long did you know each other before you filed? How many times have you been to Jamaica?

I was on a Single's Cruise on Carnival. It stopped off in Grand Cayman and then Jamaica. While in Jamaica, I went on a "booze cruise" to Dunn's River Falls. Tony worked on the catamaran that took us on the cruise (the Cool Jazz). It was love at first sight!! :luv: We flirted, he got me drunk on rum punch and the rest is history :devil: I gave him my number when I got off the boat and he called me about a week later. We begin talking every day, and 2 months later I went back to JA. I was there 6 times altogether before he moved here to the U.S. Since then, we've been back 3 times together and him once by himself for a funeral. We really only knew each other for about 5 months before we filed the K-1. We didn't officially get engaged until after we sent in the paperwork!! :blush: We just knew we couldn't live without each other and if we had to get married more quickly than we liked, so be it. This December, we will have been married for THREE years :dance:(L):luv:

Nice story, Rhonda.

I met Andre when I was in Jamaica visiting my boyfriend. He was a bartender at our hotel. I visited a few more times and became friends. He would call me from time to time. One trip ended with me bruised and crying, Andre setting us up with two slightly unusable hotel rooms side-by-side (maintenance man friend), and him talking me through some issues. 2 months later (yah, I know, I'm really slow and stupid sometimes), I broke up with the guy my friends had dubbed Jacka$$, and Andre and I started talking more and more. I knew him a little over a year when we filed. By the time he came here, I had visited him 14 times. Today, we have been married almost 16 months. Life is good. Oh, and BTW, Jacka$$ is still trying to stalk me LD. Some things never change.

ha ur story sounds like mine i was visiting someone else when i met chris chris had nerve to come over and ask me softly is that your boyfriend! i was like this man is crazy while i was sitting next to my then friend and his back was turned looking at tv in the bar yeh but when i visited that guy that trip i knew he was not for me and yes he still trying to get back and says he knows what he did wrong and keep apologizing...i say no sir i have moved on!

Ok, so I had just finalized my divorce in October 2006, after 8 years of marriage 2 actually married and 6 years of 'trying' to make it work separately. I swore I would NEVER EVER get married again. That was just NOT for me!

My family had planned a trip back to JA for my Godparent's 50th Anniversary, in November 2006.

I was staying at a hotel near MoBay and Ken worked there! He said 'Hi' my first day there and I grumbled 'Hi' back and kissed my teeth at him...Surprisingly, he laughed at my response. I was so anti-love and men at that point. I didn't want to hear it. Everyday, he would find me and make sure to say 'Hi' or ask me 'How I was doing?' (Most days I'd just give him the death stare and tell fi leave me alone) Well, he asked me to go to dinner with him, I laughed at first, then realized I hadn't really gone out since I had gotten to Mo Bay, I agreed. We went to the Ville and the Pelican for a Wacky Wednesday party and danced the night away! I hadn't had such a good time in YEARS!!

We went to Coral Cliff the next night and just talked until I missed ther darn bus back to the hotel. And we went out the night after that! I really started to warm-up to him and enjoyed his company, sense of humour and his passion to do better in life!

He told me I would marry him on the the day I left and I just laughed in earnest then.

We exchanged numbers and I went home. We've spoken every single day since. Sometime around Christmas we realized that we had fallen in love and I was scared witless! I went down to JA in February and had a really good time with Ken again. Then I went back to JA. with my sons in June, (I needed to make sure that they would get along with him.) And the last night I was there he asked me to marry him and surprisingly ...I said yes!!

I actually started thinking about filing for him in December, but took my time and made sure it all clicked. I did. I have never been so happy. I have finally found my soulmate. I didn't believe in that ####### before, but little by little this man broke the wall around my heart and showed me what TRUE love is, and for that I am forever grateful and thank God EVERYDAY for blessing me with such a good, kind, motivated, and sincerely sweet man.

So I say all this to say...Never say never...cause you never know what Jah has in store for you!

Blessings (L),

Gill

Yeah Gill;

I know what you mean. After leaving an abusive Ja man after being married for 13 years, I swore off JA men and marriage till I met Mike. I want nothing more than to have him here with me so we can get married and start our lives together. :dance::dance:

Don't all laugh at once but I met Dave at Margaritaville in Ocho Rios! I know, typical right? We met earlier this summer while I was down there with my sister and some friends. This was my 4th trip to JA when I met Dave but before that, I never met anyone that clicked. I've met some friends down there who I used to talk to on the phone here and there but nothing significant.

Anyway, we hung out for the two weeks I was down there and kept in touch on the phone and with letters. I went back again in Sept to see him for a week and the rest is history! :lol:

I filed for him Oct 5th - got the NAO1 on the 12th in the mail.....Back to JA next month! :dance::dance:

So as far as how you would like to raise your kids, you may just have to compromise and in some ways raise them the way he would like also.

Its all about respect and understanding of one anothers culture in the end. (L)

:yes: I know one of the "issues" my friend had when they had their baby was that he wanted to pierce her ears immediately after baby was born and she was totally against the idea. I guess it's very typical for little babies to get ears pierced in JA right away. Well, it was a big argument and they didn't do it. Now the baby is over 2 yrs. old and she wishes she would have gotten them done when she was a baby! Now she's at the age where she'll play with them or pull them out etc..

What do you ladies think? Since I'm having a girl, I'm sure this is going to come up soon in my house!

That's funny. I never knew any girl to NOT have her ears pierced when I was little. It was odd to meet girls whose ears WEREN"T pierced. Mine were done at 6 months. I think its a cultural thing...I may be worng. its not specific to Jamaicans. Many Black American do this...so do many Indian families its as normal as anything else to pierce your childs ears as a baby. I'd do it....I mean why not?

Question for those that have their SO's here AND have been here awhile........how many can say their SO "changed" when they got here?

You know I used to accuse Tony of changing in the beginning. It took me awhile to realize that we just didn't know each other that well to begin with. We had only spent time together in Jamaica - while I was on vacation pretty much and he was surrounded by family and friends and everything he was used to. Fast forward to the U.S. and I have a job to go to every day, a house to clean, dinner to cook, and I'm surrounded by MY family and friends. All of a sudden, he is the one in an unfamiliar place with no job, no family, no friends and he has to adjust to the fast pace of the U.S. We can no longer just hang out on the beach all day sipping pina coladas and Guiness and planning what club we'll go to that night :no: Real life has kicked in and it's a rude awakening for both of us. So I think neither one of us really "changed" we just begin to see each other in different situations than we ever had before.

Oh man this is such an insightful and smart thing to say!! Well stated!!!!

How would you feel about your SO viewing a gay porn website?

He'll ask my opinion before he buys something expensive....no, I don't understand it but he deserves it. He works at least 30 hours overtime every pay period. He'll buy himself something nice every 3 months or so.

I'm glad Mike is very mature and not into labels. Those things cost a fortune. Imagine making these people whose names are on these items richer. Riduculous. I but them but at Marshall's, Ross and such. :thumbs::thumbs:

Yeah, I remember back when Craig was mature ...........but...............allllllllllllllllllllll things changed when he got to the states !!!!!!!!!!!!! Craig was NEVER into labels, until he got here, but then that quickly went away when he saw how much things cost !!!!!!!

I don't know why there's a rush, yes it looks very cute...but, having to clean them everyday, make sure she doesn't pull them out, get stuck in something, lose them, swallow them, etc etc. I personally would wait until she was old enough to be able to take care of them herself. I wasn't "allowed" to get my ears pierced until I was in the 8th grade....my 1st pair.

With the circumcision.....since I was on assistance then and didn't get "approved" when my son was born, he was 18 days old !! It was crazy, he made no noise until they moved him from the warm table to the cold table.

Hmmm, well I'm totally fine with piercing my daughters ears when she is a baby but as far as the boys and circumcision thing.....I don't think I'll do that. I mean is there a medical necessity for it? What is the point? And actually as the boy gets older and becomes a "man", isn't it better for him to be uncircumcised? There's less chaffing that way as I understand.....but heck I'm no man so I really don't know. I just don't know what the point of circumcision is. I guess when I have kids I'll understand it more.

I saw a question that I thought would be a good one to ask here in this particular forum.

How would you feel about your SO viewing a gay porn website?

:protest::hehe::no::blink::wacko::help: and then I'd be thinking... :cry::secret:

:yes::diablo:

Funny

I thought it would be interesting here given the abandonment of the gay culture in JA. I enjoyed reading all of the responses. Thanks

They say it's better to circumcise the boys b/c when they have foresking it's hard to clean which can sometimes be terrible for the female cause if u don't clean right he can put everything dirty in her. They don't self clean :)
