My fiance lost the approval notice and I read that the it is possible to request a duplicate with the I-824 form. However, a copy of the original approval notice or a copy of the notice of action (I-797) is required to be submitted with the I-824 form. Can the duplicate be requested without any of these original forms? How long does it take to get the duplicate? :help:

This question is very important. Please help. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I called them and they said that I can file an I-826 form to receive a duplicate but they would not tell me how long it might take to receive the duplicate. They only said that it might take up to six months or even longer. This did not really help. Does anybody know how long the processing time of an I-826 form is?

They also told me that we can substitute the document if we provide prove that the document does not exist and why it does not exist. How can we do that?

We would also have to demonstrate evidence that proves the same thing as the approval notice. This seems easier to me. We could provide a copy of the original petition, some action notice letters, and a copy of my visa.

Does anybody have expperience with such a situation? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

So you are missing your NOA2? I *think* that is costs up to $200 to get, you can probably read this right on the form that they asked you to fill out. I'm not sure how long it will take you to get. People that have applied to adjust their status to a permenant resident that didn't have their NOA2 just sent copy of their NOA1, a print off of the online approval email that they send, the letter from NVC, and at least one person has gotten approved so far.

I'm not sure in what stage of the process you are in. .. :time: But a quick search from the above search option give me the following threads when typed in 'lost NOA2'

mabhobs,

It is, however, accurate.

They also told me that we can substitute the document if we provide prove that the document does not exist and why it does not exist. How can we do that?

I never recieved an Approval Notice for my I-129f. My wife's evidence of non-existance was a printout of the USCIS on-line status for my petition, which said that the petition had been recieved and I would be notified when a decision was made. That may not work for you, however, if the on-line status says that the petition has been approved.

We would also have to demonstrate evidence that proves the same thing as the approval notice. This seems easier to me. We could provide a copy of the original petition, some action notice letters, and a copy of my visa.

Does anybody have expperience with such a situation? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

My wife used a copy of the NVC notice saying that that they had received the approved petition from the USCIS.

I was thinking about sending the AOS with a copy of the email approval notice and at the same time request a copy of the paper approval notice, so we will have an approval notice in case they require a copy of the paper notice or they want to see it in the interview. What do you think?

I'm thinking that that may not get to the appropriate desk to process to receive another NOA2. I would send as much evidence that you have (letter from NVC, etc) along with the email NOA2.
