My first name as a young child had a suffix attached to it. It is never used but it is a cultural thing. Once I immigrated to Canada that portion was dropped. The problem I have is the police clearance from the other country includes the suffix on the police clearance. They said the consulate in Canada can issue a letter to indicate it is the same person. I called the consulate in Ottawa and they are indicating they can not issue the letter as they will have to verify a document from another country. They suggested I contact a lawyer. I’m not sure what to do at this point. I have all the evidence indicating it is the same person. (me!)

Is Montreal going to ask why the name on the polce clerance is slightly different from the CAD passport?!

Has anyone experienced this and what did you do. Please help!!

Hmm... Did you list that name as a previous name used on any of the forms that asked for it?

Yes the consulate said to list all names used on the DS-230. Hopefully it wont be too big of a deal.

No. I never used this name anywhere on the forms; but it was on my Police cert because the country i used to live in, had me under that name and issued it under that name. When i came to CAD, i did not use that as part of my name. just wondering how i can get ready for the US consulate when i go for the interview?
