Lan&Mike,

W2 is the form that an employer must send to an employee and the IRS at the end of the year. The W-2 form reports an employee's annual wages and the amount of taxes withheld from his or her paycheck. W2s of the last 3 consecutive years must be accompaning the Affidavit of Support. For short, you use W2 form to prove your income.

I used to be indecisive. Now I am just not sure ...

Lan,

That is not for you to worry, MIke is the one have to prove it. Make sure he call the IRS to get the tax transcript for 2006 and send it to you. Tell him to call the IRS to get it. At your part, you just need to fill out the DS-230 and other form and turn it in.

W2 is information about your income with a particular employer, they should have it on record and can provide you with it if you have lost it. But having a W-2 is based on your type of employment. If you are self-employed i believe you dont even get a w-2....But definately get the tax transcript from the IRS
